Ian, when he was finished taking care of the plant almost forgot to label it. He took out his quill and wrote on a piece of parchment:
He went after another plant. He found one that seemed a little undersized. Ok..little was an understatement, it was grossly undersized. He wondered the efficacy of magic if a plant just needed to get more sun or fertilized or even just needed time. Every human grew at a slightly different rate, why couldn't plants be the same way. He figured that was a question for another time. This was time for some magicus plantus! He thought about doing a little jig just to liven up the place, but decided that might provoke the professor some more.

He took his wand, slowly waving it side to side and incanting Herbivicus! He must not have touched the plant as nothing happened. He wondered if in fact a plant would resist the efforts of magic if that wasn't the issue. That would probably be a wee bit too much to ask of non-sentient plants. He tried again, this time ensuring he touched the plant. He was pleased when it did have a growth spurt. He did it one more time to make sure it was a suitable looking size. He was pleased to now have a proper cactus.
