"I knew she was nuts," she murmured with a glance toward Botros and the book. Look at it. It was perfectly harmless. "Never reading and then suddenly becoming obsessed with one book... goodness, maybe there is a silver lining to the fact that Cambridge seldom reads. I'd hate to see her get attached to a text about Dark Arts." Annie chuckled under her breath and went back to her dinner, which was now cold.
Thanks a lot, Cambridge. ....... wait, wait, wait. Did... was.. hmm? Botros stopped going through the pages for a moment and fixed his half-moon glasses on his nose bridge to read the writings under this illustration of some kind of sea story? There were definitely some fish in there. He traced the figures carefully, the headmistress was talking in the background but he didn't hear her over the exciting roar in his head at those CODES?? Please, please, for Odin's sake let it be a mysterious code!
... "I will go and return this to the library!" He spoke suddenly, louder and much livelier than before. Probably cutting Annie off? It didn't matter, she was going to keep talking as long as he was here and he needed to concentrate on this story without being judged by his employer. Botros stood up, a little too quickly hitting his foot, and cradled the book to his chest. He grabbed his cane and started to turn away. "Excuse me, Annie." Titles were forgotten in his moment of absolute glee. |
