Anyway, the magnifying glass was instantly in his hand as he was offered. "Sure, it looks great." He inspected it slowly, admiring the clarity of the glass. "You were thinking of a spell? What spell?" Botros asked, taking off his small half-moon shaped glasses and looked through the magnifying glass at the table in front of them.
"It is a very clear glass, where did you get it? And why?" They sure had learnt that spell that could replace this fine tool, he knew for sure that Flamsteed must've taught it at one point.
“Professor Ab.” Ethan let the words roll out of his tongue, testing it.
“I like that. I’ve never called any professor by their nickname.” The prefect shrugged, smiling as he did so. Botros is an awesome man, and it feels great to call him by a name that sounds almost familial. Ethan imagined his grandkids calling him Grandpa Ab. Lucky, lucky grandkids really.
Now onto the tiny magnifying glass.
“I got it for my 15th birthday from my cousin, although I have this feeling that it’s actually from my dad’s dad.” Alfonzo can be a scary bat, but Ethan believes that he is a good man.
“They know that I am a great fan of Sherlock Holmes. He’s my inspiration to pursue a career in Magical Forensics once I’m out of Hogwarts.” Ethan watched as the man inspected his gift, wondering what’s going on inside his head. Is his magnifying glass that rare? The Slytherin can’t tell, but he can be sure that it’s made of the finest materials, given that it came from Gramps Mordaunt.
“I was wondering if there’s a charm I can place on the glass to magnify things like a powerful telescope? It’ll benefit me greatly so I don’t have to go very far to see clues.” And also to save time? Ethan cleared his throat as he turned to the workshop table and got the hammer.
“I’d also like to inscribe around the frame some Runes. I was thinking of the Kenaz, Eihwaz, Perthro…and maybe Sowilo?” Ethan asked the Runes Master himself, if those would be perfect for the magnifying glass.
“The thing is…I don’t know how to inscribe them magically, and I’m tempted to resort to the muggle way of doing it.” Ethan paused as he looked at his beautiful magnifying glass.
“I’m afraid I might ruin it if I’m not careful…” the boy trailed off, hoping that Botros has got something up his sleeve to solve his dilemma.
