Huh, she’d gotten both a good morning and a nod from the professor. As far as Brooklyn was concerned, that meant she’d accomplished her goal. Even if he was looking awfully uncomfortable with all the students, she decided he liked her. And Hady liked her, so that meant two people on her side in this class. Maybe three if the other girl at their table responded to her. At the very least, she approved of her hair. That was important, but she’d need to know more before she could really decide what the girl was like. That meant reactions, but it also meant making sure that they did good for Slytherin. Points were good. She wanted to see lots more emeralds in the entrance hall hourglasses. Preferably hers.

She had looked up as the class started, anyway. Okay, new teacher. That wasn’t a big deal to her. All of the teachers were new to her, even if some of them she’d heard her sister talk about. She hadn’t met them, so they were new. Also, that meant they could be convinced of her royalty. Her hand had shot up when the question had been asked, along with Hady’s and lots of others. Actually, it hadn’t really been a question. She was going to answer anyway. “Professor, not all plants have to be green.” She liked the green ones best, of course, but she’d seen lots of others too. Others that weren’t green but weren’t dead either.
