Cosgrach didn't have time for disappointment, though. He shook his head, too focused for words, drew his wand, cleaned a spoon from her kit and fished out the leeches with it. He then examined them and vanished them the next second, cleaned the spoon and put it on her table. It took him only a minute or less while he did those, so Jasmine could keep silent in that time?
"No need to start over," he said at last as he looked at her, "but I hope you're aware this'll be a poor work. It's okay, though, I know mistakes happen. You may continue." He shrugged and smiled.
See this, class? He didn't EAT everyone that made a mistake.
Jasmine was upset, very much so, but she knew that she had to pull it together and concentrate if she was going to salvage this potion. She had a lot of catching up to do. Thank goodness Professor Culloden was going to allow her to continue and hadn't vanished her potion.
"Thank you very much Professor", she said gratefully. Jasmine wondered what effect her error would have on the finished potion. Would she now have a "Strongly Dislike" potion? Trying to retrieve her focus, she got back to work.
Jasmine decided that she should clean her gloves again which she did. Checking her notes, she then cleaned her grater and bowl. Jasmine went up to the Professor's desk and retrieved her ten cubes of ice. Returning to her cauldron, she added all ten ice cubes to her potion at once. While they melted, Jasmine turned her attention to the carrots. She separated five from the rest and began to grate them into the bowl. Peeking into the cauldron, she saw that the ice was almost melted. Once it was completely gone, Jasmine added her ungrated carrots to the potion. Then she picked up her bowl and grabbed the grated carrots, sprinkling them into the cauldron.
That step completed, Jasmine reached for the wormwood and knotgrass. She proceeded to tie the wormwood securely around the knotgrass and then added the bundle to her potion. Then Jasmine looked for the next steps. Checking for steam, she saw that her potion had some. Now the big question was, would it make her feel nauseous......or not. Jasmine leaned close to the cauldron and inhaled the steam. Waiting a moment, she started to feel a little bit funny. She was the teensiest bit dizzy and her stomach felt like she had eaten something that didn't agree with her. Did that qualify as nauseous? Jasmine didn't think that was exactly what she would be feeling if she hadn't messed up her potion, but she'd take it.
She was probably feeling sick because she had botched her potion.
Next step. Picking up her wand, Jasmine said,
"Scourgify". Then she proceeded to clean her wooden and metal sticks. Taking her wooden stick, Jasmine stirred her potion in a clockwise direction and counted.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11." She then picked up the metal stick with one hand and added two crow feathers to the potion with the other hand. Dipping the metal stick into the potion, she gave it one clockwise stir. Then Jasmine repeated the process....feathers, stir.....until there were only two feathers left. She added the last two feathers......did not stir, then cleaned her dirty supplies and waited for further instructions.
