Text Cut: American girls ^_^

It wasn’t that Brooklyn had forgotten about anyone else in the room. Maggie had been acting like she didn’t care to be part of the conversation, so she’d just let her. It wasn’t her job to make her open up, after all. If the blonde wanted to be antisocial, that was her own problem. She was going to talk to people who wanted to talk to her, whether or not it was met with approval. Especially when she was finding out interesting things like that one of her dormmates was from America too. That hadn’t been expected, given the whole story that most people who came here were from this country. She knew about transfers, of course. Her sister had been one, but none of them could be transfers. They got to come to Hogwarts from the beginning.

She had been about to answer Hady’s question, however, when miss disinterested had spoken and her blue eyes had flickered back to Maggie in surprise. The first thought was that she was answering the question for her, which was kind of rude. She was perfectly capable of answering questions asked of her all by herself, thank you very much. But then she narrowed her eyes as the possibility she wasn’t the only person from California had reached her mind. She was still special.

“‘M from San Diego,” she said, still watching Maggie even as she inserted her two cents into the discussion. Yes, she was from California too. So there. Nobody was going to usurp her position in this conversation. Besides, she’d gone lots of places because of her daddy and his Quidditch stuff. So she still had an advantage over other people.
