Dante was actually waiting for the staircases to move. He did not want to be caught off guard when it does and be thrown to the side. That would be seriously uncool and make him look like a spaz. He wanted to be calm and cool.

Not spazzing out on a staircase because it was moving.

So here he was just standing in the middle of a staircase waiting. That is when he saw a housemate walking on the staircase he was on.

"Dude watch out. It is about to move"

He did not even know where to.
