...Even Sophie was squinting at Culloden's choice of potion today.

She was happy that Kyroh sat with them, though, and was happy that Tobes seemed happy with it, too, but as soon as Culloden had announced the potion of the day, the whooole atmosphere of the room shifted. People were protesting, others looked downright disheartened, and there didn't seem to be a single soul who looked excited for it. She couldn't blame them, really - what practical use DID such a potion have?

No, really... what WAS the purpose?

She thought about it for a little while as people voiced their dismay, and eventually she raised a hand and offered her own thoughts on the subject, "What if there's someone who, like, has really wronged you and hurt you time and time again, but maybe you love 'em and you can't quite bring yourself to remove the toxic person from your life because of those feelings - so, because y'know they're no good for you despite what you feel, you take the potion right before you're gonna see this person, and then maybe you'll finally be able to summon up the proper emotions to stand up for yourself and say whatcha need to say?" So the heart would feel the emotions that aligned with what the head already knew needed to be done? That seemed logical and all.

Just a suggestion. Super defensive of Culloden's choices and all, even if she couldn't initially see the potential uses.

She perched on the seat next to the girl Kyroh was squished in beside, although she'd almost chosen the boy instead. The girl looked like she'd help, though, and she just wanted to sit by the the boy one 'cause she kind of wanted to look at him. Without it being weird.

If class hadn't started, Dot might have introduced herself to her new seatmates, but they were already being asked to do stuff that seemed challenging and Dot couldn't do that friendly-person thing when she was being challenged. So instead, she just meeped softly and pulled her cauldron out of her bag to clean it. Clean it, though? Was it dirty? How was she meant to clean it? They hadn't had to do this at Durmstrang. The little ginger watched her deskmates with wide eyes, waiting for one of them to do it first. She'd figure it out from there.

AND WHICH ONE WAS THE JOBBERKNOLL FEATHER?

As she'd already cleaned all her materials and things before Culloden started class - and she knew the professor had already seen her do it - Soph went ahead and levitated a single jobberknoll feather into her cauldron. Practicing her handywork and all. But the little Slytherin next to her, who seemed to be watching them all, caught her eye - oh. Did she need help?

"I know you probably don't need any help because you're a super capable woman," Soph whispered to her, because that's the way she would've wanted someone to talk to her if she needed help - completely downplaying the need of help, "but just in case, all we gotta do is use the scouring charm to clean out cauldron first, just to make sure we're not gonna cross-contaminate or anything. Like this." She pointed her wand at one of her stirring sticks and casted, "Scourgify. Just inside your cauldron instead. And a jobberknoll's a little blue bird - the feathers look like this." She stood up a little to point to the one she'd already dropped into her own cauldron. "D'you have one of those?" Should've been in her potions kit somewhere.
