"Ruby Banner." After sitting next to her brother, Ruby did the whole name tag thing and was kind of surprised it worked but she didn't SAY that obvy. She was oblivious to any question being asked by Professor Suit, until people started answering and then she worked out what it had been.
But didn't much have anything to say except with a little wave of her fingers that would do well enough for raising her hand,

Paris was a fan of the semi-circle seating. It was different and meant that no one's head would be blocking his few of the professor, and ALSO (most important) it meant he could pick the seat with the best lighting, which is exactly what Paris had done. He had out his sketch book and was doing a drawing of the entire classroom when the professor had started to speak.
They had to wear name tags which was cool only because they were NASA and he got to use magic. He placed it over the left side of his chest and admired it for a moment, distracted from the first question before he could actually give the man any attention.
Did he have to write any of this down? He was hoping not, but just in case, Paris got out his self writing quill and some parchment.
Was that boy drawing people? He could draw HER if he wanted. Ruby wouldn't mind at all.
