By the minute, the boy felt that he will have a lot of ‘babysitting’ to do. No scratch that, he will be watching out for little snakes until he graduates. Oh maaaaaan. He soooooo didn’t sign up for that. Ethan continued to watch, and was impressed when she greeted Professor Bellaire. See? See that genuine smile on her face? Hah! That kid should thank him, because it was his idea. The blond boy waited for their eyes to meet, and as they did, he gave her a proud grin, and a thumbs up. Well done, young lady! As the professor had responded to her, Brooklyn felt like sending a big ‘so there’ to all the people who had said she was rude. As far as she was concerned, they were the rude ones. For example, the boy from the boat was [i]staring[/s] at the professor, and that definitely didn’t seem like a way to make an impression. All it had gotten was a glare back, and Brooklyn would have added her own had there not been the distraction of the smile and nod from the professor toward herself. She’d smiled back, giving another curtsy to punctuate her difference from the others before she had returned to her seat and arranged Tywin on her lap yet again. There had been a thought to apologize for them, but they weren’t her fault. The boy from the boat definitely wasn’t her fault, scaring all the others into thinking a squid had been going to come out and eat them on their way across the lake. She hadn’t seen any squids, anyway. Even if there was one, it probably only ate fish or whatever it was squids usually ate.
As she had settled back into her seat, she’d glanced back at the prefect who she’d basically eavesdropped on and saw the grin. The thumbs up was somewhat ignored, but she had returned the grin. She’d proven she was better than the other firsties, when she wanted to be. Getting the professors to like her definitely was a time to act polite, and prefects liking her was useful too. Not to mention, there had been that whole scene after she’d gotten back to her seat, with the older girl getting the professor angry. Blue eyes had gone to the girl both analytically and almost reproachful, just watching her stand there with the cushion on her head. That wasn’t a crown. She knew what a crown was, and that wasn’t it.
