Oooooh the Prefect looked so proud of himself. Maggie had clearly said the right thing. "Woooooooooow." She gave him a wide eyed look, CLEARLY SO impressed by it. The other Prefect - the girl Prefect - had arrived too now but Maggie had dismissed her after a quick glance. This one was better.

She liked this one.

Ethan. "Magdalena Natalie Traulton." Pause. "You can call me Maggie, though." The nice people were allowed to do that, you know. "And thank you AGAIN for saving my pet." Mhm. She even reached over to pet her kitten, without taking her eyes off Ethan however. So she sort of ended up patting Dante's arm. Oh well.

There was someone calling out to them now. An older boy (Grayson). So Maggie beaaaaamed at him, clearly so totally happy that she was here as well. Best house evah. She wasn't going to shout back though. No shouting was rude. And was only to be used in emergencies. Like, glitter emergencies and stuff.

Maggie may have been leeeaannning on Ethan a little there when he in turned leaned in to tell them something. About a professor? Was that it? She hadn't really been paying attention. Mhm. Yes. Totes. So hi. Wait WHAT?? She blinked. Nu, she didn't want to get up from her seat. She was very comfortable here thank you very much. So she turned slightly to look at Dante, giving him a calculating look. Could he maybe just go over there and say hello for both of them? Hmm? That should totally happen.

The title ‘prefect’ can affect anyone’s attitude, Ethan’s included. Deep down, he’s still unsure about the responsibility, but there was NO WAY he’d show it especially in front of the younger students. He has to be role model of some sort, as well as watch out for his fellow snakes whether they are older, younger, new, and Merlin forbid, nutsos. It was definitely going to be a task to keep an eye out on Agatha, even if he hates her guts. “Awesome, isn’t it? Maybe when you get older you’ll get badged too.” Too bad he won’t be there when that time comes.

Ethan’s brows slowly went up as the little girl announced his long name. Wasn’t he like that too, a couple of years ago? He used to match his introduction with a series of jumps, because he, somehow, can’t stand still while doing it. Magdalena Natalie Traulton, aka, Maggie. Noted. “Hello, Maggie. You know, I used to introduce myself that way too. ‘Hey, hi! I’m EthanTylerMordauntbutyoucancallmeEthan…or Awesome.’” Ethan let out a chuckle as he remembered those days not too long ago. “I talk so fast that people didn’t get my full name. Just the awesome part, which is cool.” You know, people calling you ‘awesome’. Heh. Hm. And…why was she petting Dante’s arm? Glancing at the boy, then back to the girl, Ethan realized that her eyes were focused on him, and...why was she leaning on him?! Merlin. Kids can be scary. “Oh, don’t mention it. Molly sort of…found me.” The blond boy shrugged, thinking that her pet was…odd. “You have to keep a close eye on her though. This castle’s huge.” And he, as her prefect, will keep an eye on every single one of them to make sure that they will not be breaking any rules.

SPOILER!!: Brooklyn!

There wasn’t the chaos that could be seen from where Brooklyn had placed herself, not far from the prefects and therefore the boy and girl from the lake as well. She still hadn’t decided what to think of the boy, and she still remembered the look the girl had given her after her attempt at helping with the boat situation. She felt like there might be competition there, and that meant keeping her close. Except she wasn’t going to be the one to introduce herself. That would be up to the other girl, who had apparently kept losing her kitten. Tywin was currently curled up on her own lap, half hidden underneath the table. She wasn’t about to worry about him when there were so many other things to consider. Like figuring out who actually might deserve to know who she was, who she might bother to introduce herself to.

Like the older boy who had welcomed them all, and verified that they were the best house. Maybe he’d said it was a very cool house, but Brooklyn was taking that to mean it was the best. It had to be, since people weren’t exactly acting like crazy people here. “Thank you,” she replied, speaking loud enough so he’d hear her and giving him her best smile. There might have been a bit of smugness to it as well, but that was a given. She knew she was where she was supposed to be. Besides, she’d heard the same in his voice, so there. Plus, it proved to certain others that she actually could be polite when she wanted to be.

There was another way she could prove it as well, and maybe make sure that the really important people were on her side. She had heard the prefect’s whisper toward the other two firsties, after all, and neither of them seemed like they were going to listen to the advice. Proving herself to professors was always important, even if she’d rather not put in the work. Getting her name known was important, and she wasn’t about to risk a bad reputation. Therefore, shifting her kitten onto the bench where she’d been sitting, to save her seat, she had gotten up and approached the professor at her seat. “Thank you Professor Bellaire,” she said, giving her a little curtsy. She wasn’t getting a thank you for the welcome from all the way over where she’d been sitting, like the boy had gotten.

The number of little people joining their table was just…a lot. Ethan eyed another girl join them, and saw her passing Maggie and Dante looks. The fourth year’s observation skill was extra sharp that night, and was convinced that the newcomer already had an encounter with the two. Merlin. By the minute, the boy felt that he will have a lot of ‘babysitting’ to do. No scratch that, he will be watching out for little snakes until he graduates. Oh maaaaaan. He soooooo didn’t sign up for that. Ethan continued to watch, and was impressed when she greeted Professor Bellaire. See? See that genuine smile on her face? Hah! That kid should thank him, because it was his idea. The blond boy waited for their eyes to meet, and as they did, he gave her a proud grin, and a thumbs up. Well done, young lady!

SPOILER!!: Cutty!

Cutty glanced over toward the staff table and it seemed that Professor Bellaire would be joining the Slytherins on her own. Her calm and regal demeanour had Cutty dismissing the notion that she'd been placed there to cease a quarrel or other normal-for-our-house-but-too-aggressive-for-the-others behaviour.

"Nice of yew to join us, Professor Bellaire. Any chance of showing oos nifty food transfiguration spells?" Something they could use to freak out bothersome twerps who try to place themselves where they are not welcome.

Lots of new faces this year, but some of the old ones were missing. Where was Holden? Holden and his stupid good-looking face. Cutty still considered him untrustworthy and so his absence was worth noting. Slytherin: Paranoia is a gift.

The fourth year hellion found himself remarkably unmoved by the prefect appointments. Bev was a shoe-in and he was certain he'd mentioned her name in flattering terms on at least one occasion whilst taking his potion in the hospital wing and Ethan, well he'd practically transfigured himself into a human bidet and Cutty couldn't have been prouder...of his cousin. Yes. Family. He'd have to talk with Mordaunt. Alone. "Addi." He began with a smile toward the brown-eyed Hufflepuff. "Yerra prefect." His mind was going a great many places just then. He appeared to be in the early onset of some ecstasy or another.

"Que tal, Marisol?" He said greeting the girl and making the greeting sound VERY rhymey, indeed. Hey! She grew! Who said she could do that! "Cutty Mordaunt." He said introducing himself to one of the new faces. An older girl about the same age as he (Paulie). "Welcome to Slytherin." He ignored the firsties. For now.

Well, no speech yet, and the Sorting was still on-going. Ethan turned briefly to see if any of the first years or transfers wore the Sorting Hat backwards. He did so, last term, and thought it was epic. The Hat didn’t like him though. Rude. Well, their table was far more interesting, and so, the prefect looked alllllllllllll the way down the table. WHERE WAS HOLDEN?! Surely, he made it to the loo just in time to pee, yeah? It’ll be embarrassing if he didn’t. Or…oh! Or maybe he was with CB! That little flirt…

Ethan squinted, and saw his cousin. What was he doing all the way down there??? The fair-haired boy did a wave, and gestured Cutty to come closer. Was everything all right?

...

Ethan turned his head again to face Professor Bellaire. He was about to respond to her, when an older girl (thank Merlin, it wasn’t another first year) looked for her throne. What…throne? The blond boy turned to face the voice and…ohmysweetMerlin. GRAYSON ARE YOU SEEING THIS?! Ethan gaped at her, but snapped his mouth shut again, when Bellaire stood up from her throneseat and exchanged words with…Ruby Banner.

It was entertaining to see the whole ‘fixing her uniform’ act in front and watched the two exchange more words. Ethan did not catch all of it, because he was too busy watching Ruby’s skirt go from short, to long, to short again. Heh. Grayson must be having a grand—OHWAITWHAT. Detention?! ALREADY! Ethan eyed them both as Bellaire dragged Ruby away from them.

Ayayay. Not good.
