Archibald rubbed his cheek right after peeking through the door of the Great Hall, as he had developed a barely noticeable stress zit in the past few hours, but it was still embarrassing on his first day. Deciding to take the plunge, Archie placed his hands rigidly by his side as he strode down the loooooong hall, with his bumbag making a really irritating rattling noise as he did so. What a stupid idea it was to bring that thing along.
Ah, the headmistress. He would talk to her first. And apparently, only her, for now. "Hi there." He bent forwards a bit, and then back, and then he crossed his legs as if he needed to pee or something. But he didn't. "Umm..." Archie tapped his chin and raised an eyebrow at the seats before pointing at a few of the empty ones. "Can I just... sit anywhere... or.....?" Aaaaand he trailed off. Didn't want to sit in someone's claimed seat, of course.
Finally, he gave a general raised hand-wave, and then a pathetic smile to each of the present staff members, who were all quite... tall, he noticed. "Oh, hello. Archie." He pointed to himself. Yes, obviously. Archie's eyes went particularly wide as he stopped at the man wearing the red suit. A bit much, wasn't it? Or was he the joker of the gang? Were the Hogwartz staff those kind of people?
Who would Archie be? Mister Under-dressed? New groundskeeper who was ... short. Shorter than her, even without her heels, she daresay. But he was adorable, Fina already decided. And his name, she overheard, was ARCHIE, which was like the most adorable of names. LIKE SO CUTE. "Hello there, welcome! I'm Josephina Hadley, I teach Muggle Studies and am also the Hufflepuff Head of House," her gaze shifted towards the line of first year being sorted and she crinkled her eyebrows at the number being sorted into Gryffindor. Had the sorting hat been tainted or something? She would most definitely be investigating this. "Oh and this, this is Septimus. He's a year old and will be with us just until the Holidays." Then he'd spend the remainder of the school year with his daddy. Or Aunts. Or grandparents. Details weren't fully worked out yet. Quote:

"Good evening, Headmistress. It's good to be back in this place. Good holiday?" Oh there was a familiar face. "Tiara! Welcome back!" she beamed at the returning flying professor. Quote:

Playing with the rings on her finger she made her way to the staff table and sat in her usual seat. It looked as if almost all the staff were there already minus a few from her end of the table. Of course there was once again a new groundskeeper sitting to her right. "Hello." Short man. This sure was a nice change. Not having that giant of a groundskeeper invading her space anymore. Too bad it wasn't her husband sitting next to her again. Now that's one groundskeeper she would happily let invade her space. But alas, he was off in Africa. And the healer! With some new bling on her finger which she was playing with. "Cecelia! Welcome back and congratulations," she smiled at the woman. So that meant in a year she would be taking time off to have a little one of her own? As Seren had done a year or so before her; and before that was Hecate. So it was someone else's turn now. Quote:

It was mostly empty of course except for the other professors, who were his colleagues now. With a hand in his pocket and the other by his side, Andrew walked towards the staff table in something of a quick pace.
His eyes did a quick scan of the faces. He noticed first the Headmistress since he'd seen her recently, he nodded politely at her. Did they need to exchange pleasantries? He'd find out soon enough. Next he noticed someone whom he hadn't seen for a while. Flamsteed. Recognition lit in Andrew's eyes and a lot of other things, they had a bit of history, he and Airy did. Another familiar face was Piers's, the herbologist offered a sincere smile towards the charms man.
"Andrew Walton, hope you all had a good summer," he announced himself before occupying his seat.
Speaking of Seren; her thoughts went out to her female best friend when she spotted her replacement and Fina had to wonder how the woman was doing. Did she miss Hogwarts? She would definitely be writing when the feast was over and her badgers were all settled in with their course schedules.
"You have some big shoes to fill." Josephina said by way of introduction. It was true; Seren spent almost as much time as she had at Hogwarts and spent as long as she had in the Arithmancy post. "Josephina Hadley, Muggle Studies Professor and Hufflepuff Head of House." Quote:

Well at least some colleagues seemed to enjoy the presence of the little human. Fina leaned down and whispered into Septimus' ear, wave back to Professors Fuller and Thompson. She moved his little hand slightly. "Ah yes, Javy, splendid holiday. Very relaxing and warm, thank you." She needed it. Even the alone time with her husband. "You?" Quote:

That's what Lolita Domingo was. Though really, no one had told her when this shindig started. She hadn't been here for this feast last year, but none of her colleagues seemed to remember that. They just had to deal with the lack of her presence for a few minutes.
Adorned in bright orange dress robes, she flounced into the hall, nodding to a few students along the way. She had been pleased to see Miss Guidry get a badge and was not surprised at the choice for Head Girl. Finally she sauntered onto the platform and took her seat near the end of the table. "Evening, gentlemen," she said to her dinner companions. "Congratulations on the new positions, both of you." You know, for someone's reluctance to hire her friend, Josephina had to admit she was surprised that Anastasia asked Loli back. And Nessa had returned for another year! "Nessa! Welcome back!" she beamed and then the conversation switched over to the little one in her arms. "Yes, yes. This is little Septimus. He'll be with us just until the holidays..." Quote:

Wait...baby?! Not that he disliked them, he had been quite fond of the little one that Hecate had brought the one term. Even performed a muggle magic trick for the little one. But now, well, circumstances in his personal life had changed and...well....they sort of freaked him out. A lot.
Hence his slight scooting back of his chair away from the table.
"Evening," he said. All eyes on the tiny human. "And thank you." Eyes still on the tiny human.
And then Airey ... why did he seem suddenly put out by the presence of the young human. She frowned as he was eyeing the baby ... "Evening. Keep your suit on, Airey. Septimus won't bite." Hard, at least. He had few teeth. Quote:

Between the sing songing hellos, Cassie's snapping...Airey's use of Andy-Pandy. She had enough. These weren't grown people..these were pre-teens in adult bodies. Enough.
New persons got a nod of the head. She supposed she would have time to find out what other loons had joined the staff at a later time. Heck, she had all year Josephina then took note of Sophia pushing back her chair and was about to make a move to sit down - finally - when something else caught her attention. Was that Hufflepuff robes down there at the Gryffindor table and for the love of Wenlock, what WAS going on down there?
It didn't miss her gaze that Airey was also headed down there, but somehow she felt compelled to also join him. "Excuse me a moment," she said to her colleagues as she moved down the staff table, stopping behind Piers and Javy. "Watch him a moment, will you?" she asked, not waiting for a response as she dropped the baby into Javy's lap. She wasn't worried - she could tell by the way he was ogling that they would be okay to babysit.
