The speech had been given, so Marigold plucked herself off the bench and made her way to the staff table. Her palms were quite sweaty and tingly over what she was about to do, but she had asked band members for autographs. In a way, she was simply asking two professors for their autographs.

Marigold had done contracts before. She had effectively signed her way into having a new sister. But this one was different. She had decided against drawing it up in fancy ink and instead stuck to classic crayons. She had written "Adoption" across the top in black, then underneath, in red, the rest of what needed to be explained, only leaving out what she could say.

She approached Professors Fuller and Thompson, then casually placed a piece of paper in front of them.

Then, Marigold cleared her throat. "Um, just wondering if you'd like to adopt me for the duration of the school terms." She blinked.
