She was breathing, and just taking it all in. This was one experience she wouldn't soon be forgetting... and she didn't much want to. In observing the room and taking it all in, she caught her goof friends eye. Her first friend on staff, and one she would sorely miss.
"Thank you," she replied warmly, her smile growing somewhat.
"But in fairness, we've always had a fierce lot, they've just managed to come together and pushed themselves to the limit this term. I'm still astounded by their efforts." Truly remarkable group they were, a well deserved win.

Although his eyes did sort of dart around awkwardly for a moment, catching Leobald's brief glance and throwing him back a congratulatory wave for not dying. He was being spared a prank again this evening, by the way. He had heard that the librarian had had enough of a hair scare thanks to some 8-legged freaks. A small nod went towards the Transfiguration professor, but nothing more. He was sure the woman hated him and it mad him want to plank when he reminded himself that he needed to ask her about a particular spell she had taught.
So Seren was a LOVELY distraction. But he wasn't sure what this 'we' talk was. He hardly had anything to do with the victory other than rewarding good homework - which was certainly not something specific to Gryffindor. "Quite the way to end your decade here at Hogwarts," he grinned. "Did you happen to have time to stop by the common room?"
And see her surpriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise?
It had hardly occurred to her that Airey had stiffened under her touch, she was too busy enjoying herself and the atmosphere to care about Airey's little quirks, and she did at least go over her sleeves with a lint roller in anticipation of a hug of sorts.
"You know, you're right... it couldn't have been any better." Well, as far as Hogwarts standards were concerned, but the freaky weather thing was certainly a dampener on the year - in a literal sense. She liked snow, but she wasn't fond of ice ages. Turning slightly behind him, so she could see his face properly, Seren considered him a moment. The common room?
"Not yet, I was thinking of popping in tonight or tomorrow morning... why?" Yes, Airey, why? He hadn't pranked
her, had he?

Before she could finish her sentence to the woman sitting to her left, someone was pulling out the chair to her right.
No! Kirby was gone. No one was supposed to be sitting in that seat. Especially not a STUDENT! And a LION at that!
Looking past the CHILD sitting next to her, Cece glared at the headmistress. "Really? We now allow students to sit up here?" Was this some sort of sick joke? Was it not bad enough that her snakes had lost the house cup to the lions by a mere eighty-seven points? Did she have to sit next to not only the lion head of house, but now one of their students too?
Could she just leave now? It wasn't like she was going to eat or drink anything at this feast anyway.
And was Flamsteed wearing a wetsuit?
Gryffindor's. The whole lot of them were nuts Minus Victor. She still liked that kid..
The polite congratulations were to be expected, and she was actually looking forward to hearing them from Cece, so she was understandably taken aback as the Healer became distracted.
She looked to see what her concerns were, and as a result saw
Annie and
Kevin at the table. When had they gotten there? Seren smiled brightly, offering both a small wave.
"... they did exceptionally well," she concluded for Cece.
"Your Snakes are to be commended though, of course, they provided us with brilliant competition." SPOILER!!: Javy

Sing along were always nice, it was something she regretted not doing more often during her time here... but alas.
"Thank you, it's been a remarkable year.. I'm fortunate to have worked with this lot, they're very motivated." And it was all their doing, not hers, she did little to secure them the House Cup, it was something the student body achieved all on their own - perhaps with a little guidance.

Nope they would stay like good little kitties. Quietly the woman made her way over to the other side of the table. "Seren, I had to come over and wish you luck. It's been a joy getting to know you this term. The students will miss you and so will we." She knew she didn't know the woman long, but long enough to know they were losing fantastic Herbology Professor. Someone would have big shoes to fill.
The bright and cheerful voice from over her shoulder could not be mistaken, and so pushing away from the table slightly, she beamed at her newer colleague.
"Cassie, thank you," she started, hoping this wouldn't set tears into motion. She promised no crying until toward the end of the feast, then and only then could she let it out.
"I'm so glad we've had the opportunity to meet, and it's been a pleasure working with you this year, you're presence in the castle has been most warming." And gosh, if she kept talking tears really would come. Standing from her seat, she enveloped the woman in her arms, giving her a little squeeze.
"Look after them all for me, okay?" she whispered in the blonde's ear. Staff and students alike.

They had worked hard but not really made it to the top.
She needed more water, but the risk of fulfilling this desire meant there would be necessary toilet breaks, and there wasn't a moment of this feast she wanted to miss. As a result, she took smaller sips before pushing the glass goblet away. Leo's voice pulled her out of her reverie.
"Thank you Leo," she beamed brightly,
"they really did, they're such a strong and motivated group, I couldn't be prouder of their efforts." Ravenclaw had had their moments, in time they would settle in and find the drive. Some new blood could be the key.
"And how are you doing? You've had an interesting term to say the least."
