Nessa nodded at West as he was the first to raise his hand and offer an answer. Yes, she did know about the International Taskforce and especially that they had specific teams reserved just to work with the Yeti, but the detail that he offered.. ”Oh, he was? I actually did not know that.. He was Headmaster when I went to school here..” Well, just her last year at Hogwarts, but still, she knew the guy and hadn’t realized that little tidbit. It was remotely interesting, though she did wonder why the boy chose to offer that and not a particular incident.. or even some story Tate might share, since the boy apparently knew about it perhaps he had mentioned something to him? It was too bad the man was not here today to relay some of his own experiences.

Nessa listened as Zander offered his contribution, nodding a bit and waiting for him to expand on the incident. Hmm, he must have reached the annex portion of the book which noted the close relations of the Yeti. And then when Jasmine piped up and shared something similar, Nessa spoke. ”Oh, he was probably hungry,” she smiled at Zander. She tried to think if she had read that particular one. ”Does it mention the outcome?” Looking at Jasmine as well, she added, ”The creature known as Bigfoot is not technically the same as the Yeti.. similar, like a cousin so to speak. But they live in different parts of the world and have several other differences.” She did appreciate their contribution though as noted by her beamy smile and it did add to the knowledge of the lesson.

And, oh! Did Lucy have a personal story to share about a Yeti? How exciting! Though Russia was just a little bit away from where their natural habitat was.. perhaps a group migrated that far? Her eyes wide, she listened eagerly.. though it turned out not to be a Yeti at all. Oh.. disappointing! But an interesting twist to the story. ”Oh how interesting! Well, that’s great that your father informed the Ministry to help that poor creature out. Another distant relation..”

With an entire book of experiences and accounts at their fingertips, Nessa had hoped that the students would choose to offer more than just basic facts about the Yeti as that would have been more appropriate for Care of Magical Creatures class. Besides, the stories were much more exciting and entertaining than knowing they were covered in hair or that they were tall.. and she thought that the children would agree. Yetis were so interesting! But still, they did offer factual knowledge and were not incorrect. Nessa offered a smile and nod at each contribution and sent the information with a flick of her wand to the board. That could prove useful to them later.

Were they still on this chort business? Okay, she got the parallel that both enjoyed cold temperatures and maybe there were some outward appearance resemblances, but that was about where the similarities ended. She thought anyway. She wasn’t a creatures expert. But maybe they should clear it up a bit so they could move on with their lesson. About Yetis.

”I really don’t know all that much about chorts,” she began to both Zahra and Aubrey who had initially brought it up. ”Other than that they are very dark creatures that bring about disease and destruction. And that they favor very harsh, winter conditions.” Ok, she could see why it was brought up, given their own strange weather, but she couldn’t really educate them much on it. ”Really, any questions about them should be directed towards Professor Thompson or Professor Romanos.. I think they could better answer them.” Those were the obvious choices for her anyway, she wasn’t an expert on those.

But back to Yetis. No story? Nessa really wanted one, but she couldn’t help the grin that appeared at the Gryffindor’s answer. ”We aren’t actually going out of doors today, no.. but I like the way you think, Miss Zahra. Keep that one in mind..” Creative thinker that one was.. and that would come in handy today.

Nessa glanced over at the couple of students that had remained silent thus far, she couldn’t tell if they were so engrossed in the book or if they were just trying to choose which incident to contribute. She did hope that the earlier negativity wasn’t harshing their mood and affecting their ability to participate. Hopefully the energy of the room would continue to grow positive as she had felt it was doing. They would need to actually participate very soon.

And speaking of the promptness with which the negativity would be handled, Nessa lifted her eyes to the doorway as she noticed several figures entering. She gave both Cassie and Annie grateful smiles for their helpfulness to the situation. She really hated to take such measures but it was deemed necessary for the boy’s behavior. Casting spells on professors without their knowledge.. she still couldn’t believe it. And the boy was hardly remorseful so something indeed had to be done. She was just glad that Bunz was available to assist and take care of the matter quickly. Nessa tried not to watch too intently and keep her focus on the lesson, but she did return the redhead’s smile as she escorted Mr. Hirase from the room. She would check on the situation once class was dismissed.

She watched Grayson flip through his book, then kept her eyes focused on him as he began to relay one of the incidents there. Nessa listened intently, leaning forward here and there, her eyes widening at the mention of someone’s thought to kill one to use its blood in potions. How dreadful! But she grinned widely at the boy as he finished, happy that he shared that particular incident. ”See how depending on the point of view the motive or intent can change? The Yeti are thought to be a very misunderstood creature. Many consider them hostile and dangerous.. but who wouldn’t be if someone was trying to use them as potions ingredients? Sounds like they were simply trying to defend themselves and the person who experienced that event understood that.” Very good example!

Before she could call on Abbi as she raised her hand.. the girl was on her desk and Nessa blinked, then stared a moment, watching. If anyone knew anything about her, it was that she LOVED anything to do with the dramatics, so this right away seemed interesting. She leaned back against her podium as the girl proceeded to retell the account with such passion in her voice and flair in her performance. ”What a wonderful rendition,” she said, clapping a bit as the girl returned to her seat. ”Thank you, dear.” Of course, it would have been even better if she had chosen her own from the book instead of going off of the one Grayson had selected, but it had been nicely done all the same.

Interesting, yes.. but no, she couldn’t say that ‘helped’ for lesson purposes. Necessarily. Of course, they could expand on that thought for the activity they were going to do today. As long as it was more the watching and not the hunting. ”Oh.. when are you planning on going to see them?” Nessa asked, first looking at Alexa then at Mo. She’d be curious to hear about their adventure and experience. ”Maybe today will help you prepare for that in a sense..” Or at least get them thinking and relating more. And as for Mo’s contribution, Nessa nodded fervently. ” Well, I think you’re right.. Such a misunderstood creature, simply being protective of their own and of themselves earns them such an unfair reputation. Though maybe that works in their favor at times to keep people from disturbing them.” And for all she knew, they really could be vicious – she didn’t study them – but she knew they weren’t dark creatures, just ones that wanted to not be disturbed too much. And they had that right to be left alone. ”Mhmm, there are quite a few stories of that nature..” Whether they deserved it or not could be left open to interpretation.

Nessa nodded to Fern as she raised her hand, ready to hear the girl’s answer. Oh she had a story too and she gave the Hufflepuff her full attention. Her emotions and facial expressions went from ‘awww’ as she talked about the pain of the Yeti’s illness to ‘ohh myyy!’ as she spoke of him chewing on an arm. ”Isn’t it amazing how vulnerable they can be at one moment, yet fierce at the next?” So interesting and she could appreciate the wide range of emotions they possessed.. something to be learned from there.

”Oh, I don’t know that he gave a Yeti anything..” She wasn’t sure that he had even ever met one, in fact, she was pretty sure he didn’t. ”But I’m sure someone did.. They are susceptible to human illnesses as well.” Oh.. hadn’t she touched on that? It wasn’t the most important tidbit of the class, but she thought she had delved into it enough. ”He fully admitted that they didn’t happen to him and they were later confirmed by other wizards.” She pointed to one of the footnotes in her own amended version. It was the most comprehensive volume of Yeti experiences and that was why they'd be referring to it today.
