With the oven preheating, Lux needed to mix all of the ingredients together for the cookies. That didn't seem too hard because there were not a lot of things that needed to be added.

She had gathered all of the ingredients before beginning but still needed bowls, a spoon, measuring cups, and measuring spoons. As soon as all the equipment was collected, it was time to start. Cracking one of the eggs on the rim of the big mixing bowl, Lux carefully added only the whites before doing the same with the other egg. Both yolks were placed in a smaller bowl that she then set aside.

From her limited understanding of how baking work, Lux knew that generally wet and dry ingredients were done separately before being mixed together. The vanilla extract, almond extract, vegetable oil, and water were individually measured out and added to the bowl. Flour, cornstarch, salt, and sugar were then added before everything was blended together with the spoon. Once she was satisfied with the consistency of her dough, it was time to move on to the next step.
