Maybe Maddie didn't like talking to anyone who wasn't good at investigating for whatever reason. There were several probabilities so Hayden shouldn't assume malicious intent without there being any proof. Especially since Maddie's next idea was a good one. "Deal," she agreed. If she found out anything, Maddie would be the first one she'd go to.
