She was just curious but she'd drop the subject if Lex didn't want to talk about it.
"But people can change, so the qualities they have when they're eleven aren't necessarily qualities that will stick with them their whole life." She didn't really like the idea of houses, for that reason and for others. You were stuck in a group of people who were to be your family for your entire school life. What if you didn't like them? Or didn't like your house? It just seemed like a flawed system to her, but it seemed like it had been working out so far. It had been around for a long time and nothing major had gone wrong.
Hayden couldn't help but giggle. Before they learn better? "Do you have something against Ravenclaw?"
Lex gave a small shrug.
"I thought I did and I guess I still do?" She said, dropping her marker in favour of another to colour in the barrels themselves.
"Choosing's just not as simple as when I was 12 and determined to be an Auror one day." She'd known it was one of the things she'd wanted for the longest while but then her Grandparents happened and the black and white turned to grey.
Hayden was a perceptive little one. Lex had figured that through their conversation thus far and gave a small nod at her statement.
"People do change but your motivations rarely do. That's what really does it at the end of the day. What drives you. Take Gryffindor for instance; daring, nerve, chilvalry. Our motivation for a lot of things. We could be working at the same thing as Slytherin's but the motivation and how we go about getting it done will never be the same." It was something inbred. The way you ticked.
"I know what drives me and I'll admit it's not always a Gryffindor thought but the way I go about doing it makes me Gryffindor." She wasn't sure how much sense she was making, but it was the way she saw it and she'd never been good with words anyway. It was always easier showing through actions.
"I have everything against Ravenclaw." Lex confirmed with the widest of grins.
"Dumbest blokes I've ever been forced to associate with." With a few obvious exceptions of course. The rest could go read themselves into oblivion or whatever it was they did.
