He just didn’t know if it would work out. They were thirteen after all but Ethan had said that he had a couple of old recipes from Mordred’s school years so that was a little bit relieving to hear. Brrrr... 'Twas rather chilly in here. He rubbed his hands together, trying to warm them up.

Speaking of Ethan, his Mordaunt friend appeared out of nowhere. Simon smiled. “Hey mate. I’m alright. Just a little chilly. A few things have been on my mind: the Cold Ones, the freezing weather, and…” he paused and then added one little word. “Girls.” He pulled a miserable face and then brightened up all of a sudden when he watched Ethan unpack his bag. “How about you? Have you seen Josie?” He knew how his mate felt about that particular Ravenclaw and he wondered whether or not the two had found time to hang out.

His blue eyes widened and brightened up when Ethan presented the Memory Potion to him. Cosgrach’s words of warning played in his mind but he ignored them and just beamed at Ethan. Then he chuckled as he eyed the ingredients. Yep, Yep, all looked good to him. A smile burst onto his lips. “That’s brilliant, Holmes!” he said at first and nodded a he listened to Ethan explain the ingredients that they didn’t need and the ones that they could add. Yep, yep. All of those options made sense. Simon would have suggested sneaking into the storeroom to find some extra ingredients (or rather just asking Cosgrach); however, the boy didn’t want to lose points or lose face with one of the nicest Professors at the school. Simon nodded again at Ethan’s point that it should render her to concentrate. “It should do the trick and more, but how do we know if the potion works?” he asked as his brow furrowed.

Ethan was busy prepping his things, but albeit concentrating on the pre-brewing steps they have to do, the fair-haired boy nodded in agreement as he shared the same sentiment with Simon. Cold ones, ridiculous weather…and wait, what? Ethan dropped his steel spoon on the floor and slowly looked at Simon. Did…did he say girls? The Slytherin blinked as he let the last word sink in. Simon…and girls? WHOA. Is he turning into a ladies man too just like Grayson! “Girls. As in…the female specie?” he just…had to ask again. There’s nothing wrong with that, obviously, but Simon. Simon! Simon Holden who’d rather be in the library researching about dragons…or whatever it is that keeps his brain going…is stumped by girls? Ethan blinked once more and snapped out of his reverie, picked up his spoon and cleaned it with a spell. “Josie? I taught her a new music piece. She’s a good piano player, you know? But I never had a chance again to hang out with her. I guess, I’m too loud? Maybe she hates loud boys.” Ethan smiled sheepishly as the memory flooded him. Merlin, how many times does he have to tell Simon how wonderful, and beautiful Josie is?

“Now don’t you change the subject, Watson.” He said as he pointed at Simon with the spoon he just cleaned. “Do I know these girls? Hmm?” he asked with a goofy grin on his face. Hehehehehe. Who would have thought, yeah? Simon, hanging out with girls. And he thought his best friend wasn’t a bit interested in them.

“We may not get the result you want, but we just might discover something else…or something close to a Memory Potion, yeah?” Ethan nodded as he shifted on his seat and laid out all of the things he’ll be needing. The Slytherin nodded as he got a cauldron, and placed it over an unlit burner, got himself two pairs of goggles and tossed one on Simon’s direction. “I knew you’d ask that. We can’t test it on anyone, that’s definite…BUT, I found this…Basic Antidote Solution.” He said as he drew another parchment from his bag and showed it to Simon. “…maybe, if we mix our experiment with the Antidote Solution, and if it returns to its basic form…like pure water, then I guess we can say that the potion will work?” It was just a guess really. “We’ll have to ask Professor Culloden about this idea though.” That being said, is it too late to change their plan? Besides, they can still research further about the Memory Potion…unless, Simon’s in a hurry? “Soooo…do we brew the first one based on…theories or…do we go for the Basic Antidote Solution?”
