Today was a special day for Jasmine, but a very sad one. It wasn't every day that a girl turned seventeen, but it felt pretty much like every other day......sad. As the weeks had passed she had learned to manage her feelings somewhat, but today was different. This was not how she had imagined spending her seventeenth birthday....... alone and without the one person she most wanted to spend it with.
Jasmine came to the library to work on her homework, but she knew that would prove difficult. She sat down in Rowena Ravenclaw's window seat which was completely insane. As cold as it was in the castle, why would anyone want to sit near a window? Wearig layers of clothers and wrapped in a blanket, she sat there anyway. Jasmine took out her notebook, parchment and quill, but they sat undisturbed on the seat.
This day she would allow herself to think about Cris. She had learned to tuck the memories of him away in corner of her heart. If she didn't, she would go crazy from missing him. If she didn't, she wouldn't be able to function. Jasmine didn't know how long she sat in that window, but it was long enough to picture every moment that they spent together in her mind. Every touch, every kiss, every I love you. She wondered if he remembered, if he was thinking about her. It was painful, but doing this made Jasmine feel like Cris was with her just one last time. Seventeen was way too young to give up on love, but Jasmine knew that she would never love anyone the way she loved Cris. She also knew that she had to say goodbye. He was gone and deep in her heart she knew he wasn't ever coming back. She would let him go, but one thing she couldnt do was take off the necklace. She would not do that.
Instead of doing her homework, Jasmine wrote something else on her parchment.
Jasmine thought that she couldn't cry anymore because she was all cried out, but one tear managed to roll down her cheek. She wiped it with her blanket and threw her things into her bag. Standing up, she crumpled up the note and threw it into the trash. Then she started the walk back to her dorm.
