OOC: Sorry for the tardiness. I lost electricity yesterday. This will be a short reply, since I'm paying for an internet cafe.

So she mental face-plant, sighed softly, then got to writing.

1945
1 + 9 + 4 + 5 = 19
1 + 9 = 10
1 + 0 = 1

31 July 1980
3 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 29
2 + 9 = 11

24 June 1995
2 + 4 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 36
3 + 6 = 9

"I added up the numbers," she said to Grayson, passing him the parchment. Grinning, she glanced up to the front of the room where the hot cocoa was. "Now I could really use a mug of that hot cocoa." HINT, Grayson! This is your TEST. Heh.

Alright. First he was going to use the reduction method. He was baffled by the date ones but he gave his best effort in trying to solve them.

SPOILER!!: notebook

1945
1+9+4+5
= 19
1 + 9
= 10

31 July 1980
3 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0
= 29
2 + 9
= 11

24 June 1995
2 + 4 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5
= 36
3 + 6
= 9

He opened his textbook and began turning the pages to find the section that they had just been on. Now what did these numbers mean? Hmmmm?

It was time to do a little reduction and she had to make sure that she was completely focused this time. Concentrating as hard as she could, Jasmine got to work.

SPOILER!!: Jasmine's answers
1945: 1+9+4+5=19-->1+9=10-->1+0=1

31 July 1980: 3+1+7+1+9+8+0=29-->2+9=11

24 June 1995: 2+4+6+1+9+9+5=36-->3+6=9

After Jasmine reduced he numbers. She looked in her text book for the meaning of each of the numbers. Taking her quill, she jotted down the number meanings in her notebook.

SPOILER!!: Number meanings
1=Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership

11= Master of illumination, the inspirational messenger, the number of light, one who raises consciousness, reformer of world problems, wants to uplift others, inspires by teaching own truth.

9=Endings, tolerance, metamorphosis, cosmic, teaching, global awareness, perfection, power/strength, short -lived, immediacy.

Now all Jasmine had to do was connect the dots. She would find the significance of the dates and compare that with the number meanings. Maybe a cup of hot chocolate would help her maintain her focus for the final part of the task. Well it definitely wouldn't hurt.

SPOILER!!: notebook

1945
1+9+4+5
= 19
1 + 9
= 10
1 + 0
=1

Definitions:
1:Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership

11:Master of illumination, the inspirational messenger, the number of light, one who raises consciousness, reformer of world problems, wants to uplift others, inspires by teaching own truth.

9: Endings, tolerance, metamorphosis, cosmic, teaching, global awareness, perfection, power/strength, short -lived, immediacy.

Now with the definitions, he had to start beginning about how this all fit into Wizarding history. He scratched his head as he tried to think of something. When nothing came to mind, he decided to take a break to go grab a delicious mug of hot cocoa in the front of the classroom. Picking up a mug, he grinned. "Thanks Professor!" he said with a grin. Arithmancy class was getting a lot better already.

He made his way back to his text and tried to think about what these numbers meant in and how that definition was applied to an important time in Wizarding history.

Ethan got a parchment, wrote down the problem, and started to compute. One by one, he wrote down the meaning for each number, and explained what he thinks about it.

SPOILER!!: Ethan’s Parchment
1) 1945 = 19 = 10 =1
1: Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership
~1945 was when Tom Riddle graduated. Graduation meant new beginnings and independence.
2) 3171980 = 29 = 11
11: Master of Illumination, the inspirational messenger, the number of light; one who raises consciousness, reformer of world problems, wants to uplift others, inspires by teaching own truth
~July 31, 1980 is the birth date of Harry Potter. Born under the master number 11 who is supposedly the master of illumination, he was the one who stopped Tom Riddle from doing his evil deeds.
3) 2461995 = 36 = 9
9: Endings, tolerance, metamorphasis, cosmic, teaching, global awareness, perfection, power/strength, short-lived, immediacy
~June 24, 1995 is supposedly Cedric Diggory (a fellow Triwizard champion) got killed by Tom Riddle. This could be associated with the number’s ‘Endings’ property. 1995 was also the year when the Second Wizarding War happened which can be associated with Global Awareness and Power/Strength.

Well…that looks, right, yeah? Ethan sighed and stood up, with difficulty, and walked towards the mugs of hot cocoa. MERLIN. He can barely feel his fingers now. "Thanks for this, ma'am." As soon as he got a mug, he quickly returned to his seat, wrapped his fingers around the mug. WARMTH. Yes.

SPOILER!!:

-1945:
1: Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership
This could relate to:
  • Albus Dumbledore defeating one of the most powerful wizards of all time (Grindelwald?). By defeating Grindelwald, Albus lead other wizards to believe that they could stop threats.
  • Tom Riddle graduating from Hogwarts. His graduation meant that he gained his own independence.

-July 31, 1980
11: Master of Illumination, the inspirational messenger, the number of light; one who raises consciousness, reformer of world problems, wants to uplift others, inspires by teaching own truth
This could relate to:
  • Harry Potter is born. From contemporary times, we know that Harry Potter not only stood up (and eventually stopped) Tom Riddle but also inspired others to stand up and fight against him.

-June 24, 1995
9: Endings, tolerance, metamorphasis, cosmic, teaching, global awareness, perfection, power/strength, short-lived, immediacy
This could relate to:
  • The third task of the Tri-Wizarding Tournament was held this day. This was an ending to the international tournament that brought schools together. Relates to endings.
  • Cedric Diggory dies at the hand of Peter Pettigrew. Cedric died at a very young age. Relates to endings.
  • Tom Riddle/Voldermort returns. We know that he regained his strength at this time. Relates to strength regained.
  • As a result of Harry telling Dumbledore about Voldermort's return, the Order is brought back together. This could have something to do with global awareness- despite the fact, that the Minister of Magic & many of Harry's classmates do not believe that Voldermort is not alive. They think Harry is lying.

He took a sip of his hot cocoa and felt himself warm up slowly. He grinned. Ah, much better. Then he went over his answers to see if they made any sense.

SPOILER!!: Jasmine's answers
1945: In 1945, Albus Dumbledore defeated Gellert Grindlewald in a famous duel. This resulted in Grindlewald being sent to prison. This was the battle of good vs. evil ultimately. Initially the two men had some similar ideas, but Dumbledore understood the error of his ways. He had a new beginning and a change in thinking. He was known for his innovation and went on to become a great leader and arguably the greatest wizard of all time. Dumbledore used his knowledge and power for good rather than evil.

31 July 1980: This was the day that Harry Potter was born. If anyone was the master of illumination, he was. Harry was the first to reveal that Voldemort had returned. He was also an inspirational messenger/one who uplifts others because repeatedly avoided Voldemort's attempts to kill him and gave others hope. As the "Chosen one", he raised people's consciousness and solved the Wizarding world's greatest problem by defeating/killing Voldemort.

24 June 1995: This was the day hat Cedric Diggory was killed and Voldemort returned to power. It was an ending in terms of Cedric's life. It was also the ending of Voldemort's powerless state. He had somewhat of a metamorphosis and became a full (albeit weird) bodied entity. Voldemort regained his power and strength and went on to terrorize the Wizarding world again.

Putting down her quill, Jasmine decided that she had written all that she could think of at the moment. She leaned back in her chair and took another sip of her hot chocolate. She would have to see whether or not she was on target with her answers.

Right. They were moving on. Adi paid attention to what the Spanish lady was saying. Moore reduction and stuff. Cool! And hot cocoa. A relieved Adi collected a mug for himself. "Thanks for this, Professor.'' He headed back to his seat. It was time to get to work!

SPOILER!!: Adi's Work

1945=1+9+4+5=19=1+9=10=1+0=1
Meanings: Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership
History: Albus Dumbledore defeated Gellert Grindelwald. Dumbledore showed great leadership, independence and innovation as he challenged the dark wizard. There was a new beginning for all whose lives had become entangled with Grindelwald. Indeed, years later Dumbledore was still showing his leadership skills as well as independence and innovation.

31 July 1980= 3+1+7+1+9+8+0=29=2+9=11
Meanings: Master of Illumination, the inspirational messenger, the number of light; one who raises consciousness, reformer of world problems, wants to uplift others, inspires by teaching own truth.
History: This is the date Harry Potter was born. He was indeed an inspirational person having encouraged many to fight against evil by repeatedly speaking the truth, especially when Voldemort was "re-born" though not many believed him.. He played a major role in getting rid of the problem that was Voldemort in the Wizarding world.

24 June 1995= 2+4+6+1+9+9+5=36=3+6=9
Meaning: Endings, tolerance, metamorphasis, cosmic, teaching, global awareness, perfection, power/strength, short-lived, immediacy
History: Third and final task of the Triwizard Tournament and Cedric Diggory's Death are both signified by endings here. There was a lot of tolerance by the four champions as they had to put up with various obstacles. Harry's and Cedric's happiness of winning the Tournament were short lived after they were transported somewhere else via Portkey. Voldemort also regained his power on this day.

And he was done! Adi took a sip of his cocoa as he waited for Professor Domingot o inspect his work.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip.

Ah, done--hang on she needed to know a bunch of stuff about these dates didn't she? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Good one

Despite the boisterous laughter going on in her head she managed to keep a somewhat even expression. This was hilarious. Her two most hated subjects brought into one room. Now she saw the need for the hot chocolate, give her something to fall back on when she realized how doomed she was. Haha, knowing what these dates actually were. Fuuuuunny.

"Er.......what if you don't know what happened during these dates and thus can't link them.................?" It was a legit question. Nobody laugh.

It would be kind of fun to have one over him? Grayson snorted. For HER, yeah. She already held the top points earner title over him, this would just make it worse. And he would have responded but............

.............. Domingo.

Oh? OH? 'She improves you.' SMIRK. Wasn't that an interesting thought. Funnily enough, there was only a tiny part of him that didn't want to think that he needed anybody to improve him. Only a tiny part. For the most, this was.............. well, interesting. In a good way. Unlikely pairings, HELLO.

Blue eyes stole a glance over at Sophie before he said, "I'll make sure to remember that. Thanks, Professor." Uh huh. Interesting.

And they were moving on.

AND, Soph had already gone off ahead. Jeez, this girl was on a ROLL. Grayson leaned closer just a little to see her calculations and to get a head start on figuring out what could be linked to those dates. Did he know? LOL. No. But he didn't want to come across as dumb to the girl sitting next to him. The girl who............

............... was finished and wanted hot cocoa.

SNORT. "Talk about subtle," he said, playfully rolling his eyes at her before getting up and heading towards the front of the classroom. Hot cocoa was PERFECT in this weather. Uh huh. Kudos to you, Domingo. Grayson poured out two mugs of the frothy, chocolatey deliciousness before smiling over at the Arithmancy Professor. "Thanks for this, Professor." Free food -- or drinks in this case -- was always a plus.

Andddddd he went back to his seat, holding the two mugs of hot chocolate in his hands. "For you, Miss Subtle," he said, placing Sophie's mug down in front of her. The fourth year then placed his own mug own, grabbed the parchment and started scribbling in some random junk.

Text Cut: Calculations+meanings
1945
1 + 9 + 4 + 5 = 19
1 + 9 = 10
1 + 0 = 1

Meaning: Beginning, independence, innovation, leadership
Explanation: This was the end of the First Wizarding War, yeah? When Dumbledore defeated Grindlewald. The end of the war always means the start of something new. A new era, a new beginning. A lot of leadership and independence is needed in a war; you need that man or woman or whoever to pull you through and lead you to victory. Teamwork is good and all but everyone needs a leader in a war.

31 July 1980
3 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 29
2 + 9 = 11

Meaning: Master of Illumination, the inspirational messenger, the number of light; one who raises consciousness, reformer of world problems, wants to uplift others, inspires by teaching own truth
Explanation: This was the date Harry Potter was born. We know that he went on to stop and defeat Tom Riddle, and he also inspired others to do the same what with the army he formed at Hogwarts. In this way, he was said to be an inspiration to the general wizarding population. By defeating Tom Riddle, he did end up being someone who reformed world problems, both wizarding and Muggle.

24 June 1995
2 + 4 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 36
3 + 6 = 9

Meaning: Endings, tolerance, metamorphasis, cosmic, teaching, global awareness, perfection, power/strength, short-lived, immediacy
Explanation: This was when the third task of the Triwizard Tournament took place. The third task marked the end of the tournament and the end of a new school year in general. A perfect ending for Hogwarts, because we were leading in points. But this ended up being short lived, thanks to an evil murderous wizard. Tom Riddle took two of the champions, killing one of them and duelling the other one, who then escaped. Lucky. That must have required a lot of power and strength to face the guy. He managed to get back and raise global awareness that the most evil man in history had come back (through metamorphosis, in a way), but some people didn't believe him.

"What do you think?" He slid the parchment over towards her. Tell him how brilliant it was. Go on. He was just going to sit here and take a sip of his hot chocolate. Mmmmmm!

She watched as Grayson went to the front of the room and prepared not one, but two, cups of hot chocolate. Then he brought one back to her. "Thank you," she said.

Test = PASSED.

Then he got straight to work. Sophie just sipped on her hot chocolate while Grayson worked on his part of the assignment. See. They were just working so wonderfully together. She did one part, then he did the next. She glanced at the parchment once he'd passed it to her. She was quiet as she read it over.

"Wow," she said. "I'm impressed. You even figured out the significance of them all. Nice work, Grayson." On BOTH parts--figuring out the Arithmancy AND getting her some hot chocolate.

The Latina acknowledged each student's gratitude with a nod of her head. Some of their manners had improved since the last lesson.

Well, most of them had done quite well. The calculations were not difficult, but pairing them with the meanings was harder. "Bueno, estudiantes. Most of you have calculated and interpreted correctly." Assuming they knew the dates, unlike certain Prefects. "If you did not know those three important dates, I suggest paying better attention in History of Magic from here on out." Smirk. "The answers were, in order, one, eleven, and nine. The first date is the year the wizard Grindelwald was defeated, the second is of course Harry Potter's date of birth and Voldemort's first disappearance, and the third is Voldemort's rebirth." She did not have qualms over saying the name.

"With that our time has now drawn to a close. Homework will be posted shortly."
