They grow up so fast and he wasn't even a year yet.
But there was a knock. Her appointment with the first year, no doubt. Setting the frame back on the desk, she glanced at the door, "Come in," she called, thinking that in just a few years this first year outside her door would fly for the first time or sit her OWL exams or her NEWT exams or take her apparition test ... she'd seen it happen before. Heartbreaking experiences for both the youngster and the teacher.
"Hello Professor," Hayden greeted as she was invited to come into the room. She walked slowly, looking around the room and admiring what she saw. There was a bookshelf with a large selection of books, which Hayden admired for a while. She loved books, because she loved knowledge, but most of them were about numbers and math or whatever and that was not a subject she particularly liked. She also spotted a dog and a cat, both of which looked nice but Hayden didn't make any move to try and pet either of them.
"How was your break?" She asked. Hayden spotted several pictures sitting on the desk and wondered if they were professor Hadley's family, and if she'd spent time with any of them. She knew she'd had a baby recently, so she'd probably spent a lot of time with...him?
What was she supposed to say? Should she introduce herself? Probably, but she'd just asked a question so she should probably wait until she got an answer before starting a new topic of conversation. She didn't know exactly what she was supposed to talk about, as she hadn't come to talk about anything specific. Her family had just told her that having a good relationship with her Head of House was a good idea. She wasn't opposed to the idea, Hadley seemed very nice, she was just nervous and didn't know where to start. She should have baked her cookies or something.
