The man was still leant back in his chair, incredulity spread across his features when his boss spoke again. It was like the perfect present for his upcoming birthday. A promotion made him feel like the effort over the years had been worth it.

They had anyway, but this made it real to Adam. And he was pretty sure that Lorelai would be excited for him, too. He wasn't going to lie either - a pay rise would help, what with the twins. Of course, Lorelai's job and her books did well, too, better than Adam most of the time, but still. "That sounds really exciting. And, if you are looking to increase the size of the department, then I would definitely be willing to work with you on that." Even though he did like the intimacy and the smallness, it would be exciting to get to work with a lot more people. "Of course I will! Thank you."
