Jackson looked down slightly.
"Sorry 'bout your mum," he said quietly. He didn't know she'd lost her mother. He ate his food silently.
"Would you rather me called you Ally with a y?" he asked. Then he quickly changed the topic.
"Are you hungry?" he asked. He reached his hand out to her, but then took it back quickly. Maybe he did remember her! Yes, she was the girl who always sat by the fire in the common room! He patted her on the back. Awkwardly. Very awkward.
"Oh, I work in the Department of Specialties, or something. I'm an architect." Where do you work?" He gave her his best smile.
