That made Cutty smile. Just the sound of a deal proposal coming out of anyone, but especially the daughter of a potions maven like Anna Greingoth-Newell. The dad did something too, but Cutty couldn't remember what it was. "I want to meet yer mum." He said sounding more tired than he meant to.

...and here it came! ...or not. Sophie had been expecting and waiting for a sarcastic remark from Cutty. She'd even been excited to hear what he'd come up with. Instead? Nothing. Well, there was something, but not something she was expecting.
"My mom?" she asked.
"Why do you want to meet my mom?" Strange request. Sophie cracked open her Ancient Runes textbook and absentmindedly flipped a page or two. She so didn't feel like doing this homework.
He didn't even say anything about her request for him to do her homework. Bah Humbug.
