Okay, so she had absolutely no idea about runes at all, but they were going to light torches on fire and get some warmth so she was all about that. The first year saw that her very own prefect was handing out torches, so AJ grabbed one from here.

Listening to the instructions, AJ thought that the chant was a bit much and weird, but if it was going to get her warm, then she would give it a go. She noted that they would be using the incendio spell, but she didn't practice the incantation or anything just yet.

The first year made sure that everybody else was in fact participating before she herself did anything. Looking in her set, she grabbed the rune and placed it in the same hand as her wand. Next came the weird chanting.

"Kenaz kenaz kenaz... ku ka ki ke ko.. kun kan kin ken kon.. ok ek ik ak uk... kaunnnnnnnnn." Nope, this wasn't weird at all.
