"But no, we will not be learning about Isa this time. It's already freezing in here like most of the smart ones pointed out, so teaching you about Isa and having to chant Isa spells would simply kill us all." He chuckled. "Not Isa, but nice try." Sowilo was an interesting choice. Botros rubbed his chin, thoughtfully, and made a 'hmm' sound before he spoke. "Sowilo is the rune of the sun. Technically, it is the counter-force to Isa, and it represents the force of fire in the physical and mental sense of the word." It made sense that some students chose this rune. "You're very close. We are going to learn about a rune associated with fire, but Sowilo is not what we're going for tonight. The fire in Sowilo is untamed, it is wild and strong." Too much for what they were going to do. .... why? "No." Botros shook his head gently at the boy. "You're on the right track of thinking, yes, very good." But WHICH heating rune, hmm? HMM? Heh heh. ...unnoticed... "Very interesting, dear. You can stop by my office if you like to chat about that later, but for now, focus on what we're discussing." Botros snapped his fingers, pleased with the three students. "Exactly! We are going to learn about Kenaz today. It is the rune of fire, fire in the sense of illumination and warmth. It represents the tamed fire, the one that doesn't cause destruction or blindness. We're going to need that today."
Botros bent to one of the boxes and produced a wooden torch with the rune Kenaz carved excessively on the top. He held it high in the air for everybody to see. "We're going to light those torches with a spell and the help of Kenaz rune to sustain the flame while we make our way outside towards the lake." His face beamed at them all. "The spell to use is Incendio. Do not cast any spells yet, though. We need to discuss a few more things before that." His smiling face faltered to show them that he was serious.
"First, take our the runestone of Kenaz from your runestone set. Place the stone in your palm then grab your wand with that same hand, so that the runestone and the wand are in the same hand on top of each other." Botros demonstrated for them. "We're going to chant the Galdr for Kenaz, next, to invoke the strength and power of the runes on the torch.
"kenaz kenaz kenaz... ku ka ki ke ko.. kun kan kin ken kon.. ok ek ik ak uk... kaunnnnnnnnn" The runes carved on Botros' torch started to glow.
"Do the same. Someone pass over torches, please." He eyeballed the Prefects, specially. "Any questions, raise your hand." ooc: - You can do the steps in more than one post but it is not mandatory, and do not do over 3 posts.

Look at all those glowing runes, so beautiful, so promising, so proud, so great, so-- yes, he saw the flames now. A BOY WAS TURNING INTO A TORCH. "Aguamenti!" Botros bellowed at the boy, drenching him in cold water from HEAD to TOE. Just to be sure he was properly fire-less.
"WHO lit the torch?" Ab scolded, hobbling over to the Slytherin boy and taking off one of his own two coats and throwing it around him, a bit forcefully. The coat wasn't that big considering the boy was bulky and tall enough, but it was definitely warm. Too warm, maybe. Botros was grabbing Stark's shoulder protectively, and he BLEW hot air into his face, to dry his hair. Yes, it wasn't fashionably messy anymore but it was DRY now. "You're alright?" He patted his shoulder like a man did to a man. Do not scream again, men don't scream, it said.
The professor looked down a little and found two small creatures with the lit torch. They were humans, so they must be students. Why were they hiding? Botros let go of Stark and SIGHED. "Stand up, come on, stand up." He put out their torch and reached over to grab the little girl's hand, expecting her to grab her friend's hand. He then dragged them towards their laughing Prefect. Botros smacked Barrington on the back of the head softly. "Ease up on the humor, Barrington." And he continued dragging the two kids to the wall to deal with them.
Glad to know that they were going to be warm soon. Taking out her runestone, Leah turned it around and around, looking at it. Setting it down on her palm with her wand, she listened to the professor chanting and followed. "kenaz kenaz kenaz what?" the second year looked up, frowning. Bad memory, meh. Listening to the other students chanting, she somehow managed to say, "kenaz kenaz kenaz... ku ka ki ke ko.. kun kan kin ken kon.. ok ek ik ak uk... kaunnnnnnnnn..?" Glow! Pretty little glow! Grinning at her success, Leah looked around and saw a boy on fire and the professor getting mad at some firsties. Cute, hehe. |
