"Somehow I didn't figure he'd be in it for the story either." Not meant in an offensive way, hardly, just a truthful one. The boy didn't seem the type to sit still and pay attention to detail. "I don't suspect anyone will call them out on it either." So they were free to keep mucking things up.

Gavin sighed, trying to appear less tired than he actually felt. Of course she'd seen the ghost go through a wall, of course she wouldn't believe him when he said it was all fake. Wouldn't want to make this easy for him or anything. The pat to her leg from Emily was appreciated and possibly all she'd be getting because there was little else he could do until she calmed down.

And it would appear he wasn't just imagining things. Emily agreed the goblin was the same as that day down in Knockturn Alley and admittedly it was unsettling. Something told him things were about to get bad and he scanned the crowd to be sure his niece was still very much within close distance.

He was still not listening to her which meant he was wrong and would keep on being wrong until he accepted what she was saying. See, he already admitted the goblin was borrowed from Gringotts, it was only a matter of time before he lost faith in the ghost too. "Alright, fine, you say they borrowed the ghost. Where would they borrow him from? Ghosts can't leave the place they die at and I've never seen a ghost in Diagon Alley before so it has to be a spell." Had to had to had to. He should just listen to her more often, Circe.

The 9 year old snorted at his logic. "Goblins love money. If he stole some he wouldn't let you have it." And him wanting food from it was just as ridiculous because everyone knew house elves made the best food. You just had to hire one and they'd be loyal to you, like the ones at her grandparents house. Then again he did say it would steal it. "Fine. Get a goblin. We can steal that on--"

Merlin what was THAT?? Ashley's eyes shot up when the loud noise suddenly rang off. Her eyes widened as she listened to the man talk about sneaking into their bedrooms and wanting their candy. THEIR CANDY. And another voice on about painful removing of candy??? WHAAAAAT??? She looked to Zeke, wondering if she was the only one hearing this, even while clinging to her bag of candy. Then it happened--SPELLS WERE FLYING!!!! Was this a part of the show and wasn't that the goblin headed for them?? "You still want that goblin?"

The leg patting would have been comforting if there wasn't a loud sound in the next minute, a loud sound and people wanting her candy!! She didn't even have that much!! The hysterical laughter of the man shook the 7 year old, gripping her so tightly that for a second she made no movements, no responses. Just her little chest tightening again as she watched the scene play before her.

Coming to their bedrooms? Stealing their candy? Nothing made sense. It wasn't until the goblin jumped from the float and started pushing through the crowds while the man shot THINGS AT THEM WITH BRIGHT LIGHT and the woman was darting through that her muscles could half coordinate with her, allowing her to scrambling from her Uncle's shoulers (TOO HIGH AND SHE DIDN'T WANNA BE A TARGET) and clung to his neck, holding herself there, latched on tighter than a koala, her candy bag long since dropped. "Surrendor! Take the candy! Have it!" That's what he said to do, right?

Frightened brown eyes darted around the area but it was possible she was too scared to even cry so she just clung there hyperventilating and wishing they were anywhere else.

"Mmm... something like that," she concurred, eyes still trained on the Goblin. The ghost she didn't much care about, it was just that, a ghost, but the Goblin was far shiftier, and where he was... Peverell was sure to follow. Since it was his pet thing. Odd fellow.

Avery's fear was forgotten, on the back burner now as she shifted her focus to Zeke and Ashley, they were close enough, but she still didn't like the distance between them. "I don't like this," she muttered to Gavin as she moved to his other side and took a couple of steps in the kids' direction. Eager to close the gap between them. Perhaps haul them off by the ears too - for their own good.

... ....................

Where do they borrow ghosts from? "Eerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...." he didn't know? Okay? He just didn't know! He found it hard to imagine that a ghost couldn't leave the place they died. He heard they moved around, not much, but some. "He could have died in the Alley somewhere... and just because you haven't seen him doesn't mean he hasn't been here all along." He shrugged. That was all he had. Big fat MAYBE's. That's what he was good for, conspiring and making things up as he went along. "Maybe he died in his sleep in the Leaky Cauldron and they let him keep his room?" he asked, "And really, you haven't looked everywhere when it's dark, no good lookin' for him in the day."

Either way, he didn't like debating, and this seemed to be one of those. He loved Ashley, but she was too brainy with these things. She was always right and he didn't even know how sometimes... it was just a thing that happened, and it seemed to be happening now. Or at least, according to her she was right, and if she was always right, then she couldn't be wrong? .... His head hurt.

The Goblin stuff though, he was listening... WAS listening, because then all of a sudden he couldn't hear anything other than LOUD NOISES coming from the sky. THE SKY?! He looked up, his hazel eyes orb-like beneath the mask. "WHOOOAA" he cried out, his jaw very much hanging and in awe. Good thing nobody saw that part. Masks, he might make this a permanent thing. There was talk of candy stealing and bedroom visits and causing pain and... "OMG IT'S HIM! IT'S THE DUDE FROM THE OTHER ALLEY THAT TOOK MY HAIR!" ....... er yeah, he probably should have filtered that. For his benefit if not Emily's. The less she knew the better. Ashley's question regarding the Goblin was ignored, because YES, he still wanted one... but but now, there were other things to do. Surrendering candy though, that didn't sound like an option.

"If I had a broom... I could pretend to be JUST like them... and then infiltrate their lair and stuff," he mused to Ashley, taking her hand protectively. Big brother duties and all. "Maybe you should give me your candy, I'll look after it." Or something like that...

....

And while he was at it... since he LOOKED the part, maybe he could PLAY the part too? Yes? It seemed like the only logical thing to do. If he was seen to be one of THEM, then they wouldn't come and bother him and Ashley... cause he wasn't going to let weirdo happy candy man rip Ashley's hair out either.

"OI YOU! GIMME YOUR CANDY!" he yelled to the nearest kid (anyone?), his fake wand thrust in their face.
