“I’ll throw him into the dungeons once he gets here!” yelled her father.

Emma gaped. “Dad, they’re not dungeons anymore. Grandfather had them converted into numerous wine cellars. And you’re not throwing my boyfriend into the dungeons.” No one was going to get thrown into anything without her say. They were her friends and her father was clearly overreacting.

“Calm down, he’s a lovely young man,” said Emma’s mother who was fixing up her blush. “You ought to be on your best behaviour tonight.”

Emma beamed and thanked her mother quietly.
