"If you need help or something..." Airey, of course, would be a first choice, but Tag was willing to help in whatever way he could. "Good. I'll make sure you do." Get to talking with Airey, that is.
An, whatever Lottie was doing it only meant something had made her clearly excited. This is astronomy, so Tag should be expecting some type of fangirling every now and then, so, yes, nothing would be mentioned on her reaction. "Oh, ok. That makes sense, I suppose. Do you know when its visible to us during those months? And, question, do stars always stay in the same hemisphere forever or do they change according to the seasons?" Did seasons affect star positions?
Nods nods. The last star didn't belong to Draco, apparently, but hey, at least Tag had actually found the constellation nearly right off the bat. That was good. Very good. "A planet?" WELL. Tag was no genius here, especially when it came to astronomy. He glanced the ceiling some more and just shook his head. "No. We've never discussed planets. Besides disco planets, so I don't know what they look like. How to find them." Would that be a problem for today?
Another smile went his way. That's what Lottie was best at, thinking. So, this wouldn't be a problem at all. And she never did something unless she wanted to... or unless she was forced to, like in detention or anything relatively similar. Her decision should be a fairly easy one to make. "Of course!" Quickly, very quickly, she leaned toward him and kissed his cheek, "Thank you, boyfriend." It'll be fine. However, what did that mean, exactly? Was he going to take her to Airey's office and won't leave until she talked things out with the Professor? Hopefully not. Lotus nodded, eyeing him curiously. No, he wouldn't dare, she'll go after the holidays.
Yes! This is Astronomy! Some fangirling was bound to happen, eventually. Fair question. "After midnight," answered the sixth year. Much like Orion in late August, which they got to see before midnight in October. As quickly as she had fangirled, she sighed. What? The stars stay where, Tag? "We're in constant motion." Did she have to explain the heliocentric model? He already knew this. "The entire universe is." Tag should've been in Airey's last class, though. "But the Earth's translation around the sun, the rotation around its own axis and the slight inclination of that axis, make it possible for all the stars to be seen throughout the year from different places." Was that too much? Maybe they should stop or could they go on? She won't make anymore explanations, promise.
What did the seasons have to do with the stars? Leaving aside the Earth's movements... nothing.
Oh. Well, but he did know, because they've talked about it. Haven't they? The first time they stargazed? Was that too long ago? Okay, she could explain, "You know how stars appear to twinkle?" She hated making that description, but it's the easiest one ever. "Planets do not." Simple, really. "Do you see anything that seems fixed? Not twinkling?" Her eyes were on him instead of the sky, she knew where the planets were. Now, could Tag spot one without help? |
