She couldn't see them. Nope. Not even after two deaths in her family in two years, she couldn't see that. Whether the horse was basically taunting her about the fact she wasn't there when her grandpa died or just a grim reminder, Marigold didn't appreciate it. Which is why she took the opportunity to change the subject. "One breed is a Pegasus. They're used in Greek myths and stuff." So a bit of fiction. Quote:

Uhhhh... winged horses. Well, there were LOADS but... the one answer that Toby caught himself latching onto was the one which wasn't even in the textbook at all, and he quickly shot up his hand as soon as possible after Mari's answer. "I don't think Pegasus is actually a breed, it was just the name of that one famous horse," he pointed out, but smiled at Mari anyway because... y'know... Toby liked to share smiles. Then he looked at Thompson again. "Maybe there were loads more back then too, and they were other breeds of winged horses, like Abraxans or something." It certainly was interesting to think about, and ever since Airey did that one lesson about Icarus actually being about wizards and magic, Toby was eager to look for more possible magic solutions to historical stuff. But that was a bit off topic. As for right now? Yeah, no more answers. Toby just stood there, beaming and bouncing on his toes and absolutely buzzing with energy as though he was likely to take off at any moment. " Take a point for that assist, Mr. Tempus." Especially before he could get the chance to. " Pegasus is thought to be the name of an Abraxan." SPOILER!!: Correct answers SPOILER!!: Aethonan Quote:

Simon continued to gaze at the Thestral for a little while longer until he realized there were notes being written on the board. He quickly pulled out his notebook and began taking notes. They'd be useful later.
After listening to the Professor's question about other breeds of Winged Horses, he paused and let the information set in. Breeds of Winged Horses? Oh, he knew one of the answers. He had just read about this the other day. In his mind, he searched hungrily for the answer. When he found one of the breeds, he raised his hand. "Professor, the Aethonan is a breed of winged horse. There popular in Ireland and Great Britain," he explained. Quote:

Transfixed on the spot where the Thestral was supposed to be, she listened as Professor Thompson started talking about winged horses. Okay, so what were some of the other breeds? Raising her hand, she said, "Aethonan is one. They are chestnut in colour." Quote:

Josette listened as the questions had been asked, whilst answers were being given left & right. But it was when Professor Thompson had brought attention to the mention of a winged horse she couldn't see, her curiosity had been sparked longing to see what it looked like. Although, the apple he'd dropped disappeared into nothing! Sadly for her though, she'd never witnessed death before, otherwise she would have been able to see this creature. Josette then heard Professor Thompson ask what other kinds of winged horses there were & immediately the Granian had popped in her brain from her readings. And there was another that soon came to mind, which caused her to raise her hand, "Professor, I-I do remember r-reading about a winged horse that's commonly known to be from G-Great Britain & I-Ireland.." She tucked her hand back into the warm blanket. "I-I believe they're called... A-Aethonans? And they a-are known to b-be the colour of a c-chestnut.." Quote:

Winged horses. What did she know about winged horses? Not much, but Penelope remembered at least one breed of winged horse. "Professor, one breed of winged horse is the A- Ae- Aeth- Aetheio- Aethon- Aethonan. Aethonan." She could kind of pronounce it. At least she had been able to say it, even if it did take her a few tries to get it right. Penelope had a lot of questions about thestrals, but most of them had already been asked. "Can you use a placement charm to put a bridle on a thestral? Are placement charms used to attach the thestrals to the carriages that bring the students to the school?" Quote:

Sophie couldn't see the thestral, but she took the professor's word that it was there. Hiii, thestral I can't see! So what other types of winged horses were out there? Sophie raised her hand. "Aethonan," she said, "which is a breed mainly seen in Great Britain and Ireland."
Facts. She knew 'em. SPOILER!!: Abraxan Quote:

Their hair color is white and the feathers are blue. Totally awesome color combination, I think." Quote:

Thestrals! Leah glanced at Lioness Prefect. She could see Thestrals? Leah had learned about Thestrals before but had never seen one. She hoped she would never see one though. She watched with interest as an apple started to disappear in front of her eyes.
The second year raised her hand confidently and said, "I know about the Abraxan, professor. They are huge and powerful." Kinda rewording what Cris had said. Quote:

So other Winged Horses? Adi raised his hand. "There's Abraxans. They're very powerful palominos.'' Yep, Abraxans sounded super cool because of their strength. SPOILER!!: Granian Quote:

Okay. What girl didn't love horses to some extent? And she had read a bit on the animals in a couple of her books. Addi raised her hand. "There are granians. They are grey and very fast." Quote:

Why couldn't thestrals just be like...normal?
Still, he raised his hand to give a breed of winged horses for the professor. "There's the Granian breed. They're gray and known for being super fast," he explained. Was that where their name came from? Their color? Hmm...
Nodding curtly at each correct response. Good, they knew a little about them. It gave Javy the chance to share more facts about them soon enough.

Yes Thompson just called Fuller Piersie. It was hilarious. Nigel grinned while listening to Thompson's info about Thestrals. So that is what it was. Interesting. Can't see it . But Nigel will take his word for it. The Seventh Year knew of three types of winged horses other than Threstals. Abraxan, Aethonan, and Granian. No doubt all were just spoken of.
Though Winged Horse Races were fun to bet on. Quote:

What did her uncle have to do with them?? The girl had no idea her uncle had thestrals, to start with. She would have to ask him about that asap.
All of the winged horses she knew had been mentioned already and, to be fair, Agatha didn't know much about any of them to give any extra information, so she had to keep quiet once again. But Merlin, it was really freaky to see that apple disappearing next to professor Thompson. The sight sent shivers down Agatha spine and she fixed her scarf around her neck. Quote:

They were going to learn about winged horses? Cool. Give her undivided attention to Professor Thompson? That she could do, Professor. Candice turned her attention to the Care of Magical Creatures Professor aka Professor Handsome Face Number #2. And did Professor Thompson just called Professor Handsome Face Number #1 Piersie? The first year let out a small giggled. That's just really adorable nickname.
Back to the lesson. Thestrals? There's a Thestrals? She wanted to see it but unlike her brothers she never saw anyone die with her own eyes (Thank Merlin for that!) Other Winged Horses? The only winged horses she knew was Pegasus but someone already mentioned that, she didn't see the point to repeat the same answers so she just gonna sit this one out again. Quote:

Ethan watched as Professor Thompson procured an apple from his pocket and tossed it to his side. Why is he wasting food? Oh. Oooh. There’s actually a Thestral beside him! Ethan wasted no time and got his notebook and muggle pencil and started to scribble down some notes. Information’s good, yeah? Yes. The Slytherin looked from one student to another as they contributed their answers. Well, all the breeds of the winged horses he knew were already mentioned. He did turn to Kyroh though when the little Claw mentioned if Hippogriffs count. Hmm. If it did, does that mean that Gryffins count too? Quote:

Then the class was asked to talk about winged horse breeds but MADDIE's eyes were focused on the spot where the Thestral was meant to be. She couldn't SEE it and that was terribly annoying to the first year. NOT that she wanted to see someone die but STILL. Sort of a tease to bring something to class that not everyone could observe properly. She also wondered about the ones who COULD see it. Questions had formed in her mind but she knew she had no right to ask them so she simply watched on quietly, a thoughtful expression on her face.

The second year suddenly stopped laughing when an apple was thrown on the ground and DISSAPEARED in to thin air. Wait, a Thestral? Kevin had heard about those creatures. His mother had told him about them. Magical place or not, anyone who couldn't see the Thestrals and only saw an apple dissapear chunk by chunk would be weirded out.
He watched the board behind the Professor and read the writing that had appeared. Mweh they had to take notes? Yeah..no. He had a good memory meaning he was going to regret not taking notes in a few hours
Another breed of winged horse? Kevin thought for a moment but no answer came up to him. So instead of answering, the boy put his hand in his robe pocket took out a Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean and sneakily ate it.

Anyway, as to the question of winged horses, he knew a bit. Only 'cause he had spent the summer crashing at Atticus'...though he had never really inquired about the horses. Ever. 'Cause he didn't care. Now, more then anything, he wished he had asked.
Not that he would have spoken up anyway. But he did take a listen to what everyone else had to say about them, yeah? Quote:

What the?!?! Professor Thompson was in on it too, was he? Was he...? Oh, hey look how that apple is...eating up itself...
Cutty was disappointed that this was not an elaborate hoax being put on the class. It might have made him forget about the cold. Instead, his shivering arm wrote in crinkled writing the notes about the thestrals as well as other types of flying horses.
One had to have seen death then? Cutty looked over at the Gryffindor Prefect and seriously considered if she'd ever killed anyone. You know, by accident or whatever she would've said at the time. Nothing much to say here, literally. He would just assume they were much too cold at the moment to even consider giving an answer. SPOILER!!: Unicorns Quote:

Professor, this Thestral thingy must be defective. Hmph. Yes. That must be it.... Oh wait. The next statement definitely cleared things up. Only those who have seein another person's death and accepted the circumstances. Oh. That makes sense.
Because none of the above for Zander. So no Thestral. Or, erm, yes Thestral, but no seeing Thestral. Ahem. GROOOOOAAAN. Notes? They were outside for Merlin's sake. Winged horses? Uhuuummm..... "I've seen drawings of winged unicorns before?" Did that count? Because that's all he's got. Quote:

She tried to alleviate her mind of the morbidity as she heard the next question asked and she let her mind slip to thinking about that question. She heard quite a few answers and had to think harder to come up with an answer not mentioned but in time she did. She raised her hand and said, "My mum used to read to me lots of fanciful tails of mythical creatures as a child and one creature I remember fondly is a unipeg, or a unicorn that could fly. They were crazy amazing powerful creatures that were wild and free, no one could tame them, and they could take on most anything" " While they have their similarities, Unicorns aren't considered winged horses." As for the Winged Unicorn situation. " Even with wings they would fall under Winged creatures." SPOILER!!: Hippogriffs Quote:

It was a bit too much death and gore for Norah to think about without getting sad, and she didn't like to be sad, so she focused instead on an answer to the question.
Raising her hand as high as she could considering all the layers she was wearing, Norah decided to voice her guess, though it was very tentative. "Er, a hippo?" Wait no that was wrong. Then what was it? "Sorry, I mean a hippo...griff," she continued. Yeah! That was it! "They're not entirely horses, but they have wings and stuff..." she trailed off. Eh. It was worth a shot. " No, but they are Winged creatures." So she was partially correct on the guess. SPOILER!!: Others + Questions Quote:

Before her very eyes she watched an apple disappear. "Wicked!" She immediately thought about what her sister said about a muggle magician... maybe that was what they were doing right now. Another breed? Who was she going to know that when she didn't even know that winged horses existed five minutes ago? The lion raised her hand. "What about a horse?"
