"I know you were helping, Alexa, I know." He shot a very troubled gaze. Did she see his dilemma? Probably not. "But, you see, you shouldn't have used a spell on another student. And I'm not even talking about the prefect stuff - I mean, in general. So that's why, before you give your honest answer to that question, let me tell you this: this isn't a real detention. I won't run to Seren to announce you got in trouble or something - if anything, I'll tell her you helped." So that Seren WOULD know about Kevin and Zahra, as he still had her wand. "I just said 'detention' to shut Kevin up - in another way." See? Could her Gryffindor brain see his sly move?
So he
did know she was trying to help. Typical of a Professor. They didn't know what gratitude was or how to show it. Well Collarbin would never have that problem with her again. She was done helping. Just like she was done helping Botros. They were the Professors who'd given her the badge as a means of decoration. Well now it could decorate the inside of her trunk.
Lex noted the troubled look of the Professor but she couldn't figure why. It's not like he'd been the one called out for trying to do a good thing but she wouldn't question it, especially not now that he was going on and she figured this was the part where she listened. Always had one of those in detention. Her nose wrinkled subconsciously at the mention of the word Prefect. It shouldn't be possible to hate a word so much. It may have been a problem in general but he had to be honest. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad if someone without a badge had done it. Prefects were supposed to 'know better'. Still she nodded, indicating she was listening.
Time went still the moment he said it wasn't a real detention and the Gryffindor leaned forward in her seat, wondering if she was hearing right. She wasn't in trouble, and he'd tell her HoH she was....helping? She didn't actually know what to say. Nothing was coming to her so she just sat there staring. That was all the reaction he got out of the Gryffindor. A stare.
