“I would never let you fall.” He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, flashing the girl another smile before moving on to climb the next tree branch. He was like a little kid, giddy just to be out in the cool air climbing trees and exploring. This was the kind of physical activity Lou liked; not Quidditch, or wrestling or things like that. More like climbing, running, swimming… things that didn’t involve hitting his peers on the face with a bludger.
Still, Louis made sure to take it slow. He climbed each branch carefully, making a slow upward progress and always stopping to help the little blonde Hufflepuff up to join him. By the time the boy decided they had gone far enough, there were only very few branches still up ahead, and the two kids were high enough to see over the top of most of the other trees. The castle, grounds and lake all came to view far in the distance. And the view directly below their feet… well, that view they should probably avoid.
Sitting near the tree trunk, Louis turned to the girl beside him. If they thought it was chilly down there, they were close to freezing up here. Still, it was worth it. And Lou had always been a fan of cold weather. He wasn’t so sure about his Sunshine State girlfriend, though. “What do you think?” he asked, turning his gaze away from her to take in the sight of the school grounds and their classmates walking across the campus. "Thank you." Delilah replied, feeling a little reassured. Okay, so.. she felt more than a little nervous. She'd never been afraid of heights but the fact that this was the first time she was climbing in YEARS was kind of scary. She tilted her head upwards to look at the freakishly tall tree and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She could do this.
So, she slowly started to climb with Lou's help, extremely careful of her footing and holding on to her boyfriend for dear life. After a little while, the girl kind of started to enjoy the little adventure.. it was kind of relaxing. And certainly took her mind off of things which was exactly what she needed right now.
And well, after what felt like hours, they were sitting on one of topmost branches. What did she think? Delilah couldn't even begin to explain how beautiful the view was. "I.. just.. wow..." She finally muttered, feeling a little out of breath. Good gosh. The castle looked so majestic and the grounds looked so pretty with patches of snow in places.. could she just sit here forever? "I wish I had my camera." She added, pulling the hood of her jacket up. It was certainly cold up there but it was worth it. Totally worth it.
