He was on the leaderboard? At the mention of this, the second year actually groaned. "Aw really?" it was clear in his voice that he didn't like it. "But i don't wanna be a nerd!" Honestly, this school was weird. When he tried his best he didn't even come close to the leaderboard but when he didn't care he was a top student. Wait, she was impressed? Kevin looked at her "wow, this is the first time someone said they were impressed by me..."
Looking at the houglasses, he listened to the stone types each house had and when she was finished talking the Gryffindor sighed. "I really don't care about the stones of the other houses" he said truthfully. "But rubies are cool i guess...can i steal...I MEAN ..have a few?"
Hanging... he was leaving her hangi---- he high fived her!!!! If she didn't look smug before, she certainly did now. It was official, she was cool... and Kevin was her home-boy or homie-g or whatever the terminology was. Either way, they were on the same page for the time being.
Of course, had you asked her a year ago if she thought she'd be congratulating Kevin on being on the leaderboard, and that she was impressed with him, she'd have said it was a work in progress. But here they were, he seemed to have learned to respect others, enough at least to get by without having to visit her office again. And on top of that his studies must have been coming along rather nicely considering his points contribution.
"Yes really!" he confirmed, brightly at that. It was a good thing.
"It doesn't mean that you're a nerd, just that you're driven... and that's not something to groan about." But that... that right there... nobody had told him they were impressed with him before?
...
...
Seren dearly wanted to hug him, her arms were itching to envelope the boy, but she figured her wouldn't appreciate the gesture, so she kept her hands to herself for the time being.
"Well I'm not impressed easy," she started, a small smile on her lips,
"but you've settled in quite nicely, and I see a great deal of promise in you." So yes, colour her impressed.
She could agree with his sentiment, the other stones didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, so not caring for them was... fine by her. She blinked a few times as she processed Kevin's question. Say what now? ..
....
"Mmmm.... no." No rubies for him.
