The hourglasses were a feature of the ground floor that were often ignored. The reason being, while the race for the House Cup was fun and worthwhile, it also had the disadvantage of killing morale. Yes, killing. For the first time since taking on the role of Gryffindor Head of House, Seren was confident the Lion's had a legitimate claim to the House Cup. This year, might in fact, be their year.

Pausing on her way back out to the greenhouses, Seren took the opportunity to admire the Lion's rubies and was pleased to see they had a few more of them, than the Snakes had emeralds. Still, it was early enough in the year, there would be no complacency on her part.

She remained standing, admiring for a moment longer. By the time she left it would be a sight she wouldn't forget.
