That stupid grin was still on his face. The grin that Sophie probably saw more than any other person who knew Toby, and the Hufflepuff gave a nod. Ah yes. Cake. "Cake sounds like the best idea."
But oh yes, the cracker. Toby delved into the box again and pulled it out. He got to his feet, and offered a hand to Soph to help her up, before offering her the other end of the cracked. "Will you do the honours?" he said, in a mock-pompous voice. Toby's stupid grin was contagious, it seemed, because every time Sophie looked up at Tobes from his gifts, she couldn't help but get a goofy grin on her face, too. He was very puppyish and endearing and she wanted to reach out and ruffle his hair. But she didn't. Not this time. It was his birthday. She wouldn't tease him too much. This was HIS day to do whatever HE wanted. She was just a background character or trusty accomplice. Hehe.
Taking his hand excitedly to stand, Soph obediently took her end of the cracker, still grinning the grandest of grins as she braced herself for what was to come. She did a quick check of their surroundings to make sure no one was about to walk on by and have a heart attack - the coast was clear, it seemed, so she figured they'd better do it fast. "Okay, on three. Ready? One... twooooo....... three!" BOOOOOOM!
Engulfed in a cloud of blue smoke, Sophie coughed through delighted giggles as she waved her free hand in front of her face to clear the smoke away enough for her to see that she had the small part of the cracker, and then she waved away the cloud enough to see Tobes and giggle at him. "You win," she supplied helpfully, though certain he already knew.
She felt something brush against her pant leg, then, and raised a curious eyebrow down at a pure white mouse. "Looks like you've got some new friends, Tobes." There was one near his foot, too, burrowing itself into a top hat. Precious.
