As he went on about how secretive it was that they were going to be brewing this potion, Sophie tried not to roll her eyes - instead, she nodded the whole time he spoke, letting him say what he felt like he needed to say before responding, "Yes, yes, I would never dare to tell a soul. If someone wants to know why I'm spending so much time in the potions lab, I'll tell 'em I'm just practicing all sorts of stuff, okay? I'll tell 'em something different every week. No one'll know! I'd rather not risk your job, y'know, or make anyone feel bad. Kinda'd like you to stick around here for awhile." Though it was a pretty serious matter, she was grinning now, trying to encourage him that it would be okay. Because it would. They were both sly and cunning enough to not get caught, yeah?

Oh. News time. He was being very dramatic, taking his big heaving breath, and her head tilted slightly in amusement as he prepared himself for whatever news he had to share.

An eyebrow quirked straight upward. Dating someone? She didn't even have time to process that information for he went on to tell her who he was dating. And... frankly, Sophie was confused. And laughed a little hysterically. "I want to ask you if you're joking, but we joke around enough that I know what you sound like when you're joking. You're... really serious, aren't you?" Both eyebrows were raised now, carefully choosing her words and speaking slowly. Huh. Bart's mother? That was kind of weird. How did he even know her? More than anything, Sophie was just confused, so she asked questions.

"But... since when? How d'you...? What? Why... Bart's mum?"
