She wasn't blatantly teasing this time - her features were soft and genuinely happy. Maybe she was a little full of herself, but at least she acknowledged the truth. Heh.

"Your letter was nice. I've never heard you so sentimental before. I think if you'd said those things aloud, you might've even shed a tear." Back to lighthearted banter. Felt comfortable to be that way. "Thanks for it. And... the potion." Her voice got quieter as she said it, as if it was some kind of super secret thing no one else should know about. "Did you brew it? ...Can you teach me?" Would he? Solely for educational purposes, as she didn't really need it for anything. "S'probably the most interesting potion I've ever read about. It was a good choice." Just so he knew.
'long lost daughter'. Yeah. It was hard to grin when she was being cruel like that (he knew it wasn't her fault, so he blamed LIFE for it), and in the end he had to force the grin.

"You sure are." If he was SURE his daugher would be half of how Sophie was...

...

His grin was genuine, then. "Just to show you I could be sentimental and stuff." He liked the lighthearted mood. He'd also got quieter. WHile it wasn't a secret, he didn't want some idiot to hear about it. "I'd brewed it during summer, yeah. I don't trust others' potions much." He made a face to show that the rest of the world didn't know potions. "Of course it was a good choice." He grinned arrogantly as if it was the only possibility. "And I can teach you. But Sophie - it's hard." He eyed her gravely then. It was the hardest potion he'd ever encountered, but he didn't tell her that. He was sure the tone of his voice and look would do a better job.

Just so she knew she shouldn't be crestfallen if she wasn't successful right away.
