Toby had already sort of worked out what they'd be doing today. This was Herbology, where they cared for and tended to the plants, and here they were looking at flesh-eating plants. Tobias was almost certain that they were going to have to be providing these plants with the, errr... flesh that they wanted.

He'd been very quiet during the start of the lesson, finding his attention drawn by the plants in Greenhouse Eight which were really quite interesting. Luckily enough for him, Herbology was a subject that Toby was quite good at, so it was much easier to stay tuned in to what Professor Bentley was saying. However, a new reason for his radio silence came with the revelation that they were, in fact, feeding the plants all manner of dead things. It had the potential to be upsetting, but Toby merely told himself that these already dead things would simply end up helping the living plants to go on being alive. After that, it was easy enough to get into the plant-care mindset.

Once the space around the trunk was relatively free of his fellow students, Toby stepped closer and wrinkled his nose. This was definitely not like the smell of fertiliser, so he would not be spending more time than he needed to picking out any meat.

Tobias drew his wand from its holster and held it in a gloved hand.

"Wingardium Leviosa," he spoke confidently, pointing his wand into the trunk, but at no specific area. A steak cutting rose up out of the trunk as Toby directed it, and the Hufflepuff stepped over to the nearest flesh-eating plant (the Weigela) and guiding the steak over. He made sure to stand well back, not really wanting to be bitten if he could help it.

Moments later, once the steak had floated closer, the Weigela snatched it out of the air and chomped away at it. Tobias watched, transfixed, as the plant ate its small meal. These bushes really were quite fascinating.
