Well, it wasn't all boys NOW because Schuyler ambled in from the portrait hole with light footfalls. She'd just finished a snack at the kitchens and now she was in the mood to just lounge a little bit. She should probably be studying for classes or NEWTs, but that was something she was not in the mood to do. Hence, that wasn't going to happen.
So she fell back into one of the large armchairs and sighed contently. A few moments passed before she looked to her right and saw a boy studying at a nearby table. She shifted onto her side. "I've never seen you around before."
Which meant he was probably a transfer.
He had scribbled down half a page of notes finally, when his brain began to wander. He was tapping out a rhythm with his foot, unknowingly timing out the song that was stuck in his head. His eyes glossed over the same paragraph three or four times, and only realized it when a voice nearby said something aimed in his direction. His foot abruptly stopped. He paused in his gaze, and then when no one replied to the girl, he looked up sheepishly.
Never seen me around? Was that not good? Well, Silas was kind of hard to notice. He fidgeted with the quill in his hand and looked down at the paper briefly.
"Um," he started. He always started with um.
"Well, I've seen you," he offered, and then he furrowed his brow in a mixture of confusion and regret for what he said.
"I'm... I'm sorry, that sounded really creepy," he said with a nervous laugh, turning more in his chair, still clutching the quill and turning it over in his hands.
"Uh... I-I just mean, I'm.... I'm pretty quiet," he said.
