Cucumber sandwiches, that was. Not throwing up. Throwing up was never good, but then that was why it was important to know what people could eat. Not everyone could handle certain foods, although she’d seen that more with things like spicy foods rather than something so random as cucumbers.
She hadn’t found anyone who didn’t like cookies yet, however. Lux certainly did. She was almost expecting the younger girl to go for a second cookie, especially seeing as she was eating them faster than she was. It wasn’t really a big deal. The redhead had offered to share the cookies with her, not the other way around, so she could eat as many as she wanted. “Maybe we could,” she agreed, even though she had no idea of how to go about really creating her own tea flavor. “Maybe Professor Bentley would know if it was possible. Tea’s a plant after all.” It seemed logical to her, but either way, it wasn’t happening tonight. Tonight was limited to what they already had, her tea and Lux’s milk and cookies.
The conversation definitely wasn’t over, though. “I think it was more a matter of being determined, although it didn’t hurt if we were brave,” she thought aloud. None of them had really been completely brave when the zombies had attacked. They’d fled. Professor Romanos had taken out emergency portkeys and they’d all used them. “Maybe you’ll be braver when you get old enough to go on a trip like that, if they keep having them.” At least Lux might have more confidence in herself by then. Which she felt was something that was important in getting Austin more comfortable with people, too. “I don’t know that it’s either. But it’s sort of something that isn’t mine to explain,” she admitted. First she needed to figure out how they could meet. Okay, so maybe the mention of someone throwing up wasn't the best thing when eating cookies, but Lux had wanted to explain why she had come to that conclusion. Fortunately, Lily did not seem to be incredibly bothered by it, and at the very least was tactful in the way that she had covered up any potential awkwardness she felt. "Yes, that is very true. But I love them in general. They are my favourite sandwiches." Maybe a lot of people wouldn't share her love them, but she did not care. As long as the house elves and Bay's mother kept them coming, she was happy.
Grabbing a third cookie, Lux was surprised that she hadn't thought of going to Professor Bentley about the tea thing. Of course. Duh. "That's a very good idea. She is so nice, so I am sure that she would be glad to help us with whatever she knows about tea." Herbology was a fun subject, but Lux really did not know how she felt about those dangerous plants. They still freaked her out a lot. But something like tea was perfectly safe, as she was sure that there were no fanged tea plants anywhere.
And once again Lily was showing how wise she was; clearly this girl was a Ravenclaw for a very good reason. "I suppose that is true. I can be pretty determined when I want to be." Lux was not a quitter, and she was a competitive person. Determination was a part of her nature. The only time where it really failed her was with the whole flying thing, and when she had been uncertain about her spell work last term. "I really hope that they keep doing these field trips. But if they don't, I am sure that I can go travelling with other people." It could be a lot of fun, and she loved doing outdoor things like camping. Camping trips were awesome. "Oh, well that is fair enough. Hopefully I can get to know him better soon." But if Austin wasn't really the social type, that was fine and she wouldn't push anything. |
