Besides, once you've had a near death experience with someone it automatically qualifies you as old friends. That's the rule according to Jasmine." Smiling at Cris, she said, "Have you ever met someone and just hit it off immediately?" "Well that's how it felt when I met you. It feels like we've known each other forever even though it hasn't been that long."
Jasmine was dismayed when Cris said that his birthday had recently passed with no celebration. She believed that everyone deserved some sort of celebration on their birthday even if it was just a small acknowledgement. She wasn't a big fan of parties, for herself anyway, but she did like to celebrate. When Cris asked why she had come up with that question, Jasmine laughed. "Because if we're going to be old friends, I need to be up on my Cris trivia......you know, birthday, favorite food, favorite color, what you want to be when you grow up......stuff like that." If Cris hadn't thought she was crazy before, Jasmine was pretty sure he would now. "My birthday is April 22. I'm a spring baby. Guess that's why I like it so much."
The dark shadow having passed, Cris chuckled at Jasmine's mention of their near death experience. It was still hard to believe that their adventures in Peru had been so harrowing. "
I have to agree with you. Sharing a couple of near death experiences with someone does make you trust that person more. I like your Jasmine rule." he smiled at her.
"
I haven't actually had that experience before. That meeting someone and hitting it off immediately experience. At least not until now, and with you. It does feel like I've known you all my life. Maybe we were destined to meet, but we just had to wait until now to do so. Who knows," Cris shrugged before looking deep into her eyes again.
"
All I know is that I'm glad I did," he smiled gently at her nodding in agreement when she mentioned that they were going to be old friends. Cris smiled at that thought. Yes they were definitely going to remain friends for life but he wondered at the same time, whether they would be more than just that. Based on how he felt whenever he was with her, Cris began to realize that friendship wasn't the only thing he wanted to share with her. He just hoped that Jasmine felt the same way too.
"
April 22nd huh? Okay that date has been permanently stored in my memory banks. So how do you normally celebrate your birthdays?" he asked with interest. "
Before I attended boarding school, my mother would bake this humungous cake and have friends come over and we'd have a food fight, with the cake as our favored choice of ammunition," Cris laughed as he recalled those fun days growing up.
"
What would be your favorite choice of cake?"
