The blonde nodded to her. "I'm sure that is the way you greet an adult here in Europe but I haven't really spent that much time over seas besides going to Beauxbatons for two years. I will keep that in mind when I'm greeting the other professors as well." Emmy smiled a bit and tried to let the greeting sink in her head so she didn't mix anything up or go to her old habits. Emmylou sure hoped that helped the professor understand what she was trying to say. "Please excuse me for saying this but where I was born and raised the correct term for greeting someone, adult or not is hey y'all, hi, hey or hello. I use hello because out of those four it is the most formal." Emmylou had hoped that she didn't sound rude because she wasn't trying to sound that way at all and she was never rude to anyone. She treated everyone the way they would like to be treated which was something that her father had taught her. Wait. Emmylou didn't know if she was welcomed or not. Now she was totally and utterly confused by this lady. It seemed like the lady wanted her here but it also seemed like she wanted to kick the newly sorted Gryffindor out of her space. Honestly she really didn't know how to respond. "Errr...I'm not sure, I mean I have so many questions about this school but I don't know what I want to know more." There was one way of saying it, just one too many words.
A frown slowly formed on Professor Bellaire's face and her arms rose to rest akimbo. Sure if her children were around they would advise the child to run away because that body posture was a tell tale sign of an impending telling off. Professor Bellaire, however thought on what the child was saying, or trying to say for that matter.
"Well let me help you with that Miss Duchannes. There's a little saying that goes, 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do'. You would do well to live by that while you are here, especially in my class." Her tone was strict but not angry but there was certainly no room to question that. "
Also I advise you update yourself on the expected code of conduct for each class. You'll find that in my Rome, things are a bit different."
