Did they see how each it was, actually, to please him? "Last three steps, and very easy ones," he announced again, too energetic to sit still now. He was walking among them and smiling at whoever caught his gaze (though he was careful not to pass by Kevin. He didn't want to smile at Kevin.). "Our sixth step is, waiting for ten minutes and adding one snake fang." Very, very easy, right?
Right.
He reached the back wall of the class and leaned on it. Then he waved his wand at the blackboard and it updated itself: OOC: If you wish, you can post your character speaking to someone in these ten minutes. :3 You don't have to finish this step in one post. Just, as always, don't go overboard with posting and chatter. <3
I'll post again 6 hours later. Quote:

"Pick that snake fang up," he said threateningly calmly as he pointed at the fang by Beverly, "and wait for me outside, please. I haven't decided yet, and if you are correct, after all," he snorted - he clearly doubted that, "you will get your chance to finish the potion. I don't want to hear any whining. Now if you don't mind, I'll deal with responsible people." He eyed them all, and walked away to the blackboard. "CLASS!" His voice was on edge, but he tried to contain his anger, "put the fire out, add the other snake fang and stir once counter clockwise. You should have been able to see all the contents inside your potion up until now, but once you carry out these two steps, it will thicken and turn bright yellow. Then we drink it." He eyed the boy to see if he was out yet. He also waved at the blackboard to add the new and last two steps. "Now, the potion will last for 12-14 hours. You will feel it's leaving you, so that it gives you a chance to stop doing whatever you are to save your life." He looked into a few eyes, and he looked calmer. "Drink a cup, and one cup only. To have a longer effect, drink another cup when its effect is gone, instead of drinking more. If you drink more than enough, you will be dizzy. Too dizzy." So dizzy they wouldn't be able to stand. Clear? Clear. Good. "After drinking, sit down for a few minutes for your body to adjust. Then, once you feel fresh, you can go around being super strong. You will have a perfect sense and control of your strength, so don't worry while handling things."
He smiled again. "There are different types of strength potions, and this one is the strongest. You don't have to add the heart and the Re'em blood, but then the effect will be reduced to one tenth. You have to brew slightly differently then, which will show up on the blackboard soon." He paused and thought if he forgot to mention something... "Oh. One last thing. Or two." Two, yes. "To conserve it for a week, which you should do for homework, take a cup to drink now and add a cube of ice into the cauldron. After a week, I'm afraid it will lose the effect quickly." Shrug. "And most importantly perhaps, drink in one go, while still hot.
"That's all for now. Go finish your potions and put aside a cup. Don't drink yours, but drink from someone else's cup, and either wrist-wrestle with a friend, or try to break a record in this muggle toy I'll bring in a moment."
He walked inside the small store room again and magically moved a High Striker inside the class. He put it in front of the blackboard, and grinned at them. "It's really easy! You'll try to ring the bell at the top, here," he touched with his finger to show them, "by hitting the lever here hard enough. You'll get two chances with this toy. The ones that hits the lever will get a treat. Also, those who beat their friends at wrist wrestling." He grinned at them again. "Don't worry. The High Striker's enchanted, so it won't break.
"Are there any questions?" OOC: To get full credit from this activity, you must post twice. The deadline is Friday 19.00 GMT/14.00 EST.
You don't have to keep track of who drank from who's cup, so as not to drink from that person's potion: That part is purely IC and won't affect your points if no one drinks your cup. There is one thing that Cosgrach didn't mention, however - that how well the griffin claw was crushed determines the strength that potion will give. So, rate how well your character crushed the claw on a scale of 1-10, but don't say it until someone asks to drink your potion. Then, PM/IM that person for others not to see it to keep it fair. During the activity, though, the bigger number doesn't automatically win: Please also consider your character's normal body AND mental strength, as those DO come into play as well. During posting for the activity, please add the rating of that potion in the title part so that your friend and I can see how strong that potion is.
So what am I trying to say? I'll grade this part by how realistic and creative you are playing. Now, have fun with super strength! SPOILER!!: Lily Quote:

First Professor Culloden had seemed like he wanted to hex everyone into submission, and now he was walking around smiling at everyone as if they were all perfect little students and he hadn’t been angry at all. That was enough to keep her on her toes, and yet there were also the last few steps of the potion to finish. She’d known there had been at least one step left, but apparently that was drawn out into three. Plus, there was waiting, so it was almost inevitable that she was just going to stay nervous. At least she had something to do while she waited for ten whole minutes, but writing the last steps into her journal, even adding another little note as he had given them more instructions after the potion brewing steps were done, hadn’t taken up hardly two of those minutes. She’d double-checked that with her watch, even. Only two minutes had past, and she still had eight to go before she could finish. Definitely nervous, and because of that, she’d reverted to her normal little habit when she was worried or nervous. She found herself humming softly to herself, not really one song or another. Just music, which kept her from checking the time every minute.
Soon enough, she checked her watch again and let out a breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding. Ten minutes, so now she could add the first snake fang. That was easy enough. It would have been difficult to mess up just dropping a fang into her cauldron. Although that simplicity was threatened as the professor had changed demeanor yet again, back to the yelling, and she’d jumped. Nearly dropping the fang, but luckily it had landed inside the cauldron. Okay then, she thought, glancing up at him before applying her attention back to her potion. The flame underneath was easily extinguished, and the second fang landed in the potion much more smoothly than the first. Quickly Scourgifying her stirrer, she slipped it into the potion and stirred it once counter-clockwise. At least it looked as she imagined it ought to have, but she still wasn’t really anxious to try it out. Drinking thick yellow liquids really weren’t her thing, unless it was lemon. This was definitely not lemon.
She Scourgified her cup again, along with a ladle, however, transferring some of said yellow liquid into the cup for someone to try. She slipped an ice cube into the remainder of her potion afterwards, and then set her journal safely aside before cleaning all of her tools aside from those still containing the potion. Now all that was left was finding someone who was willing to be her partner and test her potion, and her green eyes flickered around the room. “Does anyone want to test mine out?,” she asked, trying to sound more enthusiastic than she actually felt. She was going to still have to drink someone else’s potion, after all. Leah caught the professor's smile as he walked down the aisle and could not help but smile back. He seemed so happy that she had managed most of the instructions correctly. So ten minutes later, one snake fang was present inside the second year's potion. Ignoring the commotion that happened over the time, she turned her attention back to Professor Culloden.
Extinguishing the fire, Leah added the second snake fang in and scourgified the stirrer. Stir once anti-clockwise. Eeep, the potion was now yellow! Not as bright as others', but at least it was not a dull color either. Now tired of scourgifying, Leah muttered a scourgify at a cup and scooped her potion in it. That was when a much older girl looking for a partner. "Hi, I'd love to try your potion. Would you... like to test mine pretty please?" she asked nervously, approaching the girl with her cup in hand. |
