Declan looked around, "Anyone want a taste of my delicious brew?" HM. THAT boy was older AND asking for someone to try his potion. Maddie didn't know for SURE that he was a good potioneer but he DID probably have more experience brewing than she did so chances were that his potion wouldn't kill her or anything. PLUS Culloden probably had stuff to help kids who were poisoned and deathly. OKAY, decision made.
Maddie picked up her cup and wandered over to him, a confidence in her stride that only a kid woman of eleven could have. "I'll try yours if you try mine." That was the deal. "AND I want to check the color of yours to make sure it's properly yellow." That was part of the deal TOO.
