Okay, the professor came out. "Good day to you too, sir. I'm Leah Abbott, second year." Basic introduction, done. He looked surprised to see Leah wanting to meet her. Oh, did people normally make appointments with professors beforehand? "I'm sorry if I have interrupted you doing something important, Professor, I didn't think of telling you beforehand."

So to the serious matter. "As you probably know, sir, I didn't take Astronomy last term, and wooh, I've decided to learn about it this year." Huge decision, huge step. "I've been wondering if you could explain to me about the benefits of learning Astronomy, and some basic facts so that I can catch up." That was a good thing, right? Trying to learn more.
