"My journey was fine," Ava said, brushing off the question. Who cared about a boring train-ride when they could be talking about cool, Jake stuff? Unless... "Why? Did you ride the train?" Was that the case?! Argh! She could have ridden with him had she known.
At last, he started getting to what mattered. Answers.
"Thank heavens," she said, relieved. "Mum's okay. And you're HERE! Everything's wonderful!" She hugged him again before stepping back to give him some room to breathe. To be honest, she didn't really care what the Headmistress might have to announce. She was currently too happy to care.
"Can I stay here awhile? I mean, I guess you're technically working, huh? I should probably go, right?" She didn't want to leave him but she would never getting him into trouble. "No no, I've been here all day," Jake explained, shrugging one shoulder as he glanced up to the staff table again.
It seemed that Ava's anxieties had been more or less assuaged, and Jake was glad. Couldn't have his little sister fretting, after all. Everything wasn't quite wonderful, what with the whole 'death threat to school Quidditch players' thing, but he understood what Ava meant. Family stuff, y'know.
Once Ava had released him, Jake tugged his robes again before taking a good look at the little Gryffindor. He couldn't help but feel his own mood lift as a result of seeing her so happy. "I'm sure you can hang out here if you want, but if one of the professors tells you to go sit down, well... them's the rules," Jake shrugged one shoulder, giving a little grin. Ah, it was good to see the little lion again. Quote:

OH. But he wasn't a professor. "A Hit Wizard?" The fourteen year old inquired, curiously. "Do people like ... pay you to do stuff? Kill people?" Or just hit them, he didn't know. OHMIGOSH. Was that why people looked like someone was about to die? Because it actually was? Wow. Something was actually happening at his feast. Sweet.
He stood curiously around, watching as a few people walked past and greeted the man. HMMM. Was he a Hit Wizard and the Ministry or something? ................. "I'm with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement," Jake explained, figured he should maybe... elaborate for this one. "The Ministry pays me. To help catch criminals." That's where all the hitting was. More or less.
Okay, so more information was probably helpful. "We're here for extra security; there's been a little trouble is all," the Hit Wizard went on, trying to keep details to a minimum, as he wasn't entirely school how much the Headmistress was going to explain. "I expect there'll be more information in the speech. Or in here."
As he said this, Jake reached into his robes pocket and pulled out a copy of the Daily Prophet, and handed it over the the kid.
