Sweet. MERLIN.

Grayson stuck out like a sore thumb, he did. There were a ton of tiny munchkins here -- were eleven year olds always this small? -- and then him. Luckily for him, there were some other older kids amongst the group so he didn't feel as left out as he would have as he made his way towards a spot near the Staff Table where the Sorting was going to take place.

The great thing about his surname beginning with W was the fact that he could quietly observe all the sortings that were going on. And, even moreso, the students that were being Sorted. Just look at all these tiny little munchkins. Titchy, they were. Nervous, too, from what he could tell. A small smirk spread across his face as he matched up the people with the description that Lex had given him about the different houses. Like look! There went a smart nutter. A brave person was joining the reds, which was apparently the best house. Not many huggers finders were around. Though that kid over there did go to join them when he was clearly meant to be in the house of the annoying people. Shaped like an idiot, that one was.

"WHITLOCK, GRAYSON DOUGLAS!"

.......................................... Looks like it was time.

The fourteen year old had been nervous before, sure, but he had merely buried it beneath a cool and composed exterior. Now? Now it was starting to show in the way he bit his lip and held his breath before approaching the stool. The boy sat down on the stool and waited for the Sorting Hat to be placed on his head. This was it.

"A transfer, eh?"

HOLY. FREAKING. WHAT?!

"Yes, I can talk to you. And read your thoughts too so don't even think about swearing while I'm sitting on your head."

How the--

"I just know, don't question it, Whitlock." Grayson rolled his eyes. "Now... you're a tough kid, a little reckless too at times." The boy smirked. "You're a lot more selective about who you choose to be loyal to, which leaves out the Hufflepuff house." And I'm not a hugger, thank you very much. "A keen observer, but not one to harness this into the right way." Your right is different to my right then, ol' Hat. And his right was the better one, mkay?

"Moving swiftly on, you have a sense of self-worth and a lot of complacency. The thirst to prove yourself and a sense of achieving greatness stands strong in you so you'd better be..."

Was this a drumroll worthy moment?

"... SLYTHERIN!"

SMIRK.

Ha! He'd gotten sorted into a house. His eyes flew over towards the side of the Hall where the people wearing green-ties were sitting. Green wasn't a bad colour. Now that he had been sorted, the sense of self-pride was coming back. And to think he had been nervous about this. What had he even had to do? Jam a hat on his head and let it tell him which house had the pleasure of having him be a part of them. Thanking the hat, Grayson took it off and placed it on the stool before heading off towards the Slytherin house table.

And he wasn't annoying now, thank you very much Lex.
