Not that this was a fun situation at all. Serious business and all that.

Frowning slightly at memories from the very Hall, Jake stood up a little straighter and used the back of his hand to adjust the position of his glasses. He stood tall and silent and kept staring out intently over the Great Hall, occasionally crossing to the other side of the doors and glancing at out into the Entrance Hall at those who were still arriving.

Just. Y'know. Keeping his 'eyes peeled'.

Maybe after the speech he'd mosey over the Hufflepuff table. Just for old times' sake.
Richard was preeeetty bored. The Hogwarts feasts were awesome, don't get him wrong, but there was no food yet. Nope. All that was happening so far was people getting sorted and that was no fun. Except for that one guy who decided to take off the Sorting Hat mid-sorting, then put it back backwards. And then got sorted into Slytherin and sat at the Hufflepuff table.

That guy made Richard hope for fun times. But after that - nothing.

A big, fat load of nothing. That's all that happened so far.

To make things worse, the older students were acting like somebody died ... or was about to die. And yes, it was Hogwarts so that could happen. Just not before the food, please.

That was why the fourteen year old boy was walking around the hall, willing time to go faster by the sheer power of his walk. It still hadn't really worked, but he had found one of those odd men that seemed to be around the place. HMM. "The staff table is there, mate." He said suddenly, stopping in front of the man and using his hand to point at the table on the other side of the hall. He narrowed his eyes at the stranger and tried to adopt his position. Dude, he was standing up straighter than a ruler! "You are a professor, yeah?" Or was he a student?

OH MERLIN. Could they actually fail students so much that they'd still be studying here even though they were OLD?!
