Theo's face turned serious in a matter of seconds, and stayed that way when he finally revealed all.
Huh?
"You what?" Something about Quidditch being cancelled? Theo pressed his eyebrows together and finally cracked a smile. "You're pulling my leg, right?" Theo laughed. HA HA. Actually... it was kinda mean, so he obviously soon realized that West wouldn't do that to him, and then his expression hardened once again.
...
"Are you serious?" He closed the gap between them, as if he thought the privacy spell wasn't enough or something.
"Mm... yeah. M'serious. Me and Mo are being forced to step down... Kaiden too, but he's gonna be a prefect now." Obviously there wasn't any such offer for him or Mo given Theo and Nigel already held those badges... not that West would want it. What he wanted was how it had been only a short while ago with Theo and Cassia and himself as Slytherin's student leaders just as they'd planned it in first year.
"I guess they knew about this a while ago... because they never replaced the Gryffindor Captain." Easier to say that... than mention her by name right now. But really what that meant was that they had known about this... and waited until the train before telling them. It felt cruel.
"I'm... I'm not captain anymore." He said, hating that the words made it real.
